General Motors released a new teaser image this week revealing a small portion of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali’s interior. Its purpose was to show off the updated pickup truck’s new digital gauge cluster and Super Cruise technology, but we also spotted a new infotainment screen hiding in the far corner of the photo.
Although the touchscreen itself is not visible in the teaser photo, the power button and the outer edge of the screen can be seen just behind the steering wheel. The current GMC Sierra 1500 does not have a button in this position, which confirms a new infotainment system will be among the updates in store for the updated 2022 model.
This screen does not appear to be the same one found in the 2021 GMC Yukon, as it does not have a power button mounted in this position. The Yukon comes standard with a 10.2-inch touchscreen that is mounted high up in the center of the dashboard, while the Yukon Denali’s unit is integrated into the center stack.
It’s important to remember that this teaser shows a range-topping 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali that likely has an abundance of available options, so this new mystery screen may not necessarily be standard equipment.
As we noted above, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali will offer Super Cruise as an available option. The version of the semi-autonomous technology offered on the truck will be able to work while towing. The 2022 model-year Sierra 1500 will also introduce some other minor changes, such as mildly revised exterior styling and various interior/cabin updates. It’s unclear when GM plans to reveal the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, but we plan to cover the truck extensively, so be sure to subscribe to GM Authority for more GMC Sierra news, GMC news and 24/7 GM news coverage.

They might be introducing android automotive if you look closely at some of the old spy shots.
Good riddens to that old crappy interior!
Look at the placement of the power button compared to the hummer ev infotainment. Could be similar screen design.
Looks like I bought 2 years to early
Why do we need a screen in a truck?? Its a truck, made for work, not grocery getting. The less gadgets and electronics the better. They all will just break first. My truck is a base model 97 k2500, with no power seats, cloth, crank windows, etc. It has 736,000 miles and everything works great.
Get off my lawn!
Hell yea I’m reading this comment on my old flip phone modern phones suck. No need for new technology when it still works.
So trade it in when the new one comes out. The denali’s hold their value better than any other truck brand
Not grocery getting? Not all trucks are for “work”.
Then they are not very good trucks, or maybe not very good owners. Buy a suburban if you want a grocery getter with a screen. A real man’s truck can be hosed down and the interior covered in mud, and no problems
The 70’s wants their truck back.
Well this man’s truck is used mostly to haul a Travel Trailer and having a screen to see maps, traffic and weather is pretty handy. Better to know there’s something ahead and get off the road than sit in traffic for two hours. I already have a monitor on my dash for the Back-up Camera so a Garmin on the dash would be a distraction. To the point of the article though, for those that buy a truck for more than hauling bricks and mud bogging, a better interactive Infotainment system would be great.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I agree. That’s the beauty of America!! Gods country! God bless you, your family, and America!!
Kinda best of both worlds, today’s trucks/SUVs takes place of ’70s luxury road yachts at the same time a capable heavy duty vehicle. You want the toys get the Denali, if you want the tools get the SLT.
Agreed… If you want a basic no nonsense work truck with rubber floors you can still order them that way. That said the truck market has matured to the point that customers demand a fully loaded luxury model. I really hope GM is bringing their A game with the new interior. There honestly doesn’t seem to be a ceiling for luxury content. GM could offer a model above the Denali and still sell them all day.
God doesn’t exist 😊
We need a truck sold in America that gets MPG-30 city, 40 freeway.
Get a Sonic , a 5000 lb vehicle can be only so efficient.
Yeah sonics are great…. Do those come with dental dams or did u have to pick some up yourself??
Don’t know what you mean, are you an expert on what you suggested?.
Can’t really see much…
I was really hoping GM had released a new image of the infotainment system. Who else is getting anxious to see what they have done with the 2022 trucks?!!
If you can afford a truck or suv for around $55000 and 65000 ,who cares about the milage it gets, if can afford the payment you can afford gas ,but I agree we do all the toys, because trucks are selling more then cars and women are are more pick up then due suv
Buy what you want. Don’t be crying about what someone else may like.
I have a 20 High Country because I think it’s a slightly better looking exterior but anyone who says a Denali or High Country can’t be a work truck doesn’t know how to spoil themselves. It hauls, tows and cuddles you all at once!
I might lease a 2021 Sierra now and then look at the 2022 in a few years to buy. The redesign dash looks cool and new colors this year. All moving in the right direction for me.
Thanks
Hope it comes with good hardware and software and is not buggy !!Meaning good processors that can handle the tasks Quickly and software that doesnt crash or give you the blue screen of death ,Inferior hardware and software seems to be the normal for GM lately .GM STEP UP YOUR GAME!!!
I don’t know why we have to wait another year, it was acknowledged after the 2019 model year the touchscreen was in need of an update ASAP! RAM and Ford were ahead of the game, why is GM always playing catch-up? The instrument panel used in tha Tahoe and Yukon would be a quick way to update the pickups. Without many cars in the lineup, GM needs to up their game in trucks and SUVs. Delays in updates of the Colorado and Canyon are overdue.
I hope that get-away from bose and use harmony karden
The Bose systems aren’t too bad. I’d like to see them move towards using a Focal driver based system.
Focal automotive drivers produce a drool worthy sound.
The GMC Sierra needs a better Bose sound system! They should put maybe like 20 speakers, I’m skeptical why only 7 speakers are offered. Maybe add a 10in subwoofer in the rear seats rather than a lousy 5 1/2in “richbass woofer” would be bad ass if they added the performance series on the denali trim.
