The Denali trim for the 2021 GMC Yukon aims to attract buyers with its abundance of standard equipment, which includes Magnetic Ride Control suspension, satellite navigation and a Bose 14-speaker stereo.
The Denali trim level also comes standard with quite a lot of chrome exterior trim, including a mesh grille insert and door handles. Many customers like the upscale look that the extra chrome trim gives the SUV, but some customers prefer body color or black trim over shiny head-turning chrome.
This is where VIP Auto Accessories steps in. The St. Louis-based shop recently completed work on a 2021 GMC Yukon Denali whose owner requested they cover the vehicle’s chrome exterior trim with gloss black vinyl wrap. They also powder coated the factory 22-inch wheels in gloss black, smoked the amber side marker light lenses, painted the lower body side molding, painted the GMC-branded fender vents and painted the fog light bezels.
This 2021 GMC Yukon Denali, which left the factory covered in a layer of Satin Steel Metallic paint, looks much more sinister with black wheels and blacked-out exterior trim than with chrome parts, in our opinion. This aftermarket blacked-out treatment sort of reminds us of the Sport trim level for the 2021 Cadillac Escalade, which trades some of the chrome trim on the SUV for gloss black parts.
The GMC Yukon Denali is available with GM’s Duramax turbo-diesel 3.0L LM2 inline-six engine or 6.2L L87 V8 gas engine. They are both paired with the GM 10-speed automatic transmission and standard rear-wheel drive or available four-wheel drive. Prices start at $68,195 for a Yukon Denali with the Duramax diesel and 2WD.

I did that black treatment to my 2021 Yukon Denali a couple of months ago, shortly after I got it. Have not regretted it. I get lots of positive comments. And besides, it just looks ‘bad’ all blacked out!
hi, how much did you pay for the blackout treatment? you did it with the dealer?
Thanks for sharing this info…truck looks great…what is this exterior paint color called on your 2021 “Bad A***” Yukon?
A little black goes a long way on these but all black doesn’t look right to me. This is a trend that can’t die soon enough!
Hate hate chrome, it has its place back in the days but its time to find newer trends. I prefer all black, hands down its on 🔥
This is such a played out fad that needs to die. Anyone with an image complex the first thing they do is run out and level their trucks with black rims and then black everything out. Solid black rims are the worse because it looks like a miss matching contrast in black colors no matter what you do with the tire, then throw in black paint and it is three different shades of black. Such an ugly trend. I think this look was stolen from the spray on plasti dip fad ten years ago which suburban dads are now picking up on.
Don’t get me wrong, there can easily be too much chrome but a nice aluminum wheel with chrome bumpers and a combination of painted body color and chrome trim is the way to go.
Disagree 100% on this one. Chrome should exist on cars only and extremely limited at best.
Black looks infinitely better and chrome should not be on trucks.
Chrome is so trite and too blingy.
Looks okay, not what I’d do. I think the black out look pretty much only works against a dark body color. I live in AZ and have no interest in owning a dark vehicle so it wouldn’t work for me anyway.
Ever heard of ceramic window tint? Its a film thats applied to all windows and Blocks the heat, especially if you add clear ceramic to the entire windshield. If you want a black car with black leather, you can do that without fear, IF you have ceramic window tint installed.
I’m sure that would help lower the interior temp a bit. But you still have all the dark body panels to absorb all the heat. Two vehicles sitting in the hot sun for hours. Put your hand on the light colored one-no problem. Try the dark one-if it’s a really hot day you’ll burn yourself. Some of that heat radiates into the interior. I’ll stick with the light colors, thanks.
Wonder what they did with the wheel lug nuts. Marketing wanted us to release black ones with some kind of “miracle” finish several years back. We told them “No”. They would never have survived the first removal and reinstall without getting scratched.
GM Accessories sells black lug nuts.
They’re crap. The locking lugs that comes with the set is already rusting on mine after 1 year. I will take them off, clean em and respray them but I would be more disappointed if I was a customer that didn’t know or was scared to do that.
I just took delivery of my 2021 Sport Platinum Escalade in Black Raven with the blackout ONYX package and black gloss rims with dark auburn interior. The SUV is in my opinion stunning to look at and have had many positive reviews about the way it looks. It is a personal opinion to like the black out version, but one that I would gladly pick again.
No thanks to any chrome. Don’t want to have to worry about shining up chrome. The chrome fad has had it’s time. If you want it get it but give people an option. Not everyone is attracted by shiney things.
Looks horrible. The chrome accentuates the car. Blacked out chrome may be OK on a fast and furious type of vehicle, not this…which is more on the Luxury side. I also hate matte black….why would you want a dull looking paint on a shiny car lol
I got the 2019 GMC Terrain blacked out just love it only thing I wish the gmc on the Steering wheel was black and not red like it is
I’m the Accessories Sales Manager at a GMC dealership. I sell black out packages all the time. Its not a fad that will fade quickly. I just wish GM sold actual black parts/accessories to replace the chrome ones, instead of wrapping or painting. Actual black parts would last longer, and prevent lifting of wrap, or chipping of paint. Black out packages look sharp on all colors of vehicles, not just dark colors as mentioned above. I can’t wait until they come out with a lift kit for these Yukons. A 4″ lift, with a black out package, and you got yourself one badass, eye candy ride!
$85000.00, seats still suck!!
Gm needs to wake up and take those sorry seats out of their vehicles!!!
Too overkill for me. Making it all black is just as bad as making it all chrome! There needs to be a balance, especially on a luxury vehicle like this that costs 80 large or more.
