2021 Chevy Traverse Now Available With Sport Edition Package

The 2021 Chevy Traverse will be available with a new Sport Edition package, giving buyers of the three-row crossover a little extra choice and variety.

The Sport Edition package for the 2021 Chevy Traverse includes black-painted aluminum alloy wheels, a black ice grille, black fog lamp bezels and a black tailgate applique. The blacked-out look continues with black painted roof rails, black Traverse badging and black Chevy bowtie emblems in both the front and rear.

The package is only available on the LS and LT trim levels, but it can be ordered with any Traverse exterior color. The exterior color palette for the 2021 Chevy Traverse includes the following colors:

  • Summit White
  • Satin Steel Metallic
  • Silver Ice Metallic
  • Black Cherry Metallic
  • Cajun Red Tintcoat
  • Graphite Metallic
  • Iridescent Pearl Tricoat

Chevy previously introduced Sport Edition packages on the Malibu sedan and Trax subcompact crossover, but it has decided to expand the availability of the package to the Traverse for 2021 in a bid to give customers a bit more choice when ordering their vehicle.  Just like the Traverse, the Sport Edition package for the Malibu and Trax includes various black exterior trim pieces and black-painted wheels.

“Customer choice is a competitive advantage for Chevrolet,” Steve Majoros, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing, said in a statement. “Special editions and unique trims allow us to offer customers the custom look they want straight from the factory. This helps us get more customers interested in our vehicles, which in turn can help Chevrolet grow sales volume, market share and revenue. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

The 2021 Chevy Traverse is also available with a new Midnight Edition package. Like the Sport Edition, this package adds black exterior trim and wheels to the mid-size crossover, however it can only be ordered in the Mosaic Black Metallic body color.

Updated 2022 Chevy Traverse

An updated version of the Chevy Traverse was expected to arrive for the 2021 model year, however the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the revised model’s arrival until 2022. The automaker will be looking for the Sport Edition and Midnight Edition models to help keep buyers’ attention until the revised model enters production at the GM Delta Township Assembly plant next year.

  1. When will it be available with decent reliability and some build quality?

  2. You used to be able to order a Traverse pretty much like this with LPO accessories built into the MSRP. Black grille, bow ties, wheels, etc. I prefer this method because aside from the regular wheels getting sent back to GM by the dealer everything else such as the normal grille and bow ties just get thrown into a dumpster. I would prefer GM get away from having an abundance of LPO accessories that remove and discard the original and instead just build these things on at production.

  3. Sport Edition package, yeah ok. More like Sport Appearance Decals
