2021 Chevy Traverse – Midnight vs. Sport vs. Redline vs. RS

Anyone interested in the new 2021 Chevy Traverse will have plenty of customization options at their disposal, with numerous trim levels and special edition packages to choose from, including the new Sport Edition Package and Midnight Edition package, as GM Authority covered previously. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the special edition packages offered with the 2021 Traverse, comparing the equipment of the Midnight Edition package, the Sport Edition package, and the Redline Edition package, with the sporty RS trim level tossed in for good measure.

2021 Chevy Traverse Midnight Edition

2021 Chevy Traverse Midnight Edition

Let’s kick things off with the Midnight Edition package, which equips a variety of dark-themed styling enhancements to give the Traverse a sleek, stealthy new look. These include a Black Ice Grille, black trim bits, black mirror caps, black badging, and black roof rails, as well as 20-inch black wheels. To top it off, the 2021 Chevy Traverse Midnight Edition package is only available in Mosaic Black Metallic paint. Pricing is set at $1,295 when added to the LS trim, and $1,145 when added to either the LT Cloth trim (1LT) or LT Leather trim (3LT), with LT trims forgoing the roof rails, as exclusively revealed by GM Authority.

2021 Chevy Traverse Sport Edition

Next up is the Sport Edition package, which is essentially identical to the Midnight Edition package, offering a Black Ice grille, black trim bits, black badging, and 20-inch black wheels. That said, the Sport Edition also includes body-color sideview mirror caps, and critically, is offered in conjunction with every exterior paint option with the exception of Mosaic Black Metallic.

Like the Midnight Edition package, the Sport Edition package is priced at $1,295 when added to the LS trim, and $1,145 when added to either the LT Cloth trim (1LT) or LT Leather trim (3LT), with LT trims forgoing roof rails.

Chevy Traverse Redline Edition

The 2021 Chevy Traverse Redline Edition takes the popular dark color scheme and adds a splash of crimson to the mix, with a Black Ice grille, a dark tailgate applique, gloss black window surrounds, Dark tail lamps, and 20-inch Gloss Black wheels with Red Accents. Pricing is set at $2,495.

Chevrolet Traverse RS

Finally, we have the sporty 2021 Chevy Traverse RS, which, unlike the other three options mentioned above, is a full trim level, rather than a package. Highlights include a Black Ice grille and fog lamp bezels, as well as a Dark tailgate applique, Gloss Black window surrounds, and trim-level-specific roof rails, as well as 20-inch Dark Android wheels. The 2021 Chevy Traverse RS starts at $44,895 when equipped with FWD, and $46,995 when equipped with AWD.

  1. In this comparison, the only real loser is the buyer who thought the traverse was a decent vehicle.

    1. So, instead of snarky comments, why don’t you recommend your preferred vehicles and the blog can comment on it.

        1. Love my Traverse RS with its beautiful styling, love the fold down seats, love the rear hidden storage compartment, love the front hidden storage space, love the black leather seats, love the spacious interior, love the navigation system that allows me to plan my route on my iPad and send it to the vehicle when ready. Love the superior hands free calling using Bluetooth on my Android phone, love telling Alexa to start my vehicle during our cold Canadian winters and having a toasty vehicle ready to drive. Love all the safety features when navigating a busy parking lot, both backing out of a parking spot and driving into a parking spot, that 360 view is fantastic. And yes it has the start/stop feature but it has not failed me and is not even noticeable. What’s not to love!

  2. I am a lease owner of a 3-year-old Traverse, After being teased with the new edition of the 2021 Traverse, I was prepared to get another Traverse when my lease is up in February. Now with the cancellation or push-back of the new edition, I am forced to look at another vehicle because just does not make sense to get another vehicle the same as the one I just had for three years. The pandemic push-back should have been a 4 or 5-month delay not a whole year in my observation.
