The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse has received a new Midnight Edition Package that swaps some of the crossover’s chrome exterior trim pieces for gloss black-painted parts.
The new Midnight Edition “offers an all-black approach to the Traverse’s LS and LT trims,” Chevy says and includes a Mosaic Black Metallic exterior color, black ice grille, black-painted aluminum wheels, black Chevy bowtie emblems, black badging and black roof rails.

Chevy already offered a similar Midnight Edition Package on the Equinox and Trax crossovers, but after seeing strong customer response to the blacked-out cosmetic package, it has decided to expand the availability to the Traverse as well. It has also added a new Traverse Sport Edition to its portfolio for 2021, which has the same black exterior trim but can be ordered in any Traverse exterior color rather than just Mosaic Black Metallic.

“Customer choice is a competitive advantage for Chevrolet,” Steve Majoros, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing, said in a prepared statement. “Special editions and unique trims allow us to offer customers the custom look they want straight from the factory. This helps us get more customers interested in our vehicles, which in turn can help Chevrolet grow sales volume, market share and revenue. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse, which is the fourth model year for the second-generation Traverse, sees very few changes over the 2020 model year. An updated version of the three-row crossover was expected to arrive for the 2021 model year, however the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the revised model’s arrival until the 2022 model year. The addition of the Midnight Edition Package, along with the similar Sport Edition, should help keep the crossover fresh until the mildly updated version arrives next year.

I appreciate that Chevy acknowledges that this car looks better in photos with very, very dim lighting.
Maybe the next gen Traverse will look acceptable during the daytime too.
