2021 Camaro Shock And Steel Edition Now Available To Order

The 2021 Camaro is now available to order with the special Shock And Steel Edition package, GM Authority has learned.

For those who may be out of the loop, General Motors first introduced the Shock and Steel package with the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro. The package adds a variety of aesthetic upgrades to the iconic performance two-door, but unfortunately, the package was subsequently axed with the introduction of the 2021 Camaro.

However, the Camaro Shock and Steel package was later set for reintroduction later on in the 2021 model year, as GM Authority was the first to report. Now, according to sources familiar with the product, the 2021 Camaro Shock and Steel Special Edition is available to order, which means dealers can place an order for the special edition model.

The Shock and Steel package includes a raft of styling enhancements for the exterior of the 2021 Camaro, and is available on both the Coupe and the Convertible. The package includes the following content:

  • 20-inch Blade Design aluminum wheels
  • Carbon Flash-painted sideview mirrors
  • Carbon Flash-painted center stripe and surrounding stripe in Silver or Shock colors
  • Body-color high-wing spoiler (Coupe only)
  • Black fuel filler door with visible carbon fiber insert
  • Yellow-painted brake calipers

The upgrades continue inside the cabin space, and includes the following content:

  • Black sueded knee pads
  • Carbon fiber instrument panel molding
  • Premium carpeted floor mats

The latest 2021 Camaro is the sixth model year of the sixth-generation nameplate, arriving with a few minor changes and updates over the preceding 2020 model year. Highlights include the addition of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the availability of the 10-speed automatic transmission with the SS 1LE Track Performance Package, and the addition of the Wild Cherry Tintcoat exterior color. The latest Camaro also offers a new appearance package called the Wild Cherry Design package, which also bundles together several styling and cabin enhancements for the muscle car.

  1. New colors for an old dead car walking. GM will discontinue Camaro after 2022 model. Dodge and Mustang own the market.

    1. No. After 2023 model. Might be a Mary EV but most people won’t care. Sad.

      1. Richard, you’re mistaken or misinformed… possibly both.

The only thing Dodge owns is the rental car market. It has the lowest fleet sales (rental cars) of the three.

Mustang has the highest total sales, highest retail and second in fleet. Camaro is third overall in total sales but is second in retail sales, last in fleet. Challenger is last in retail sales and first in fleet.

The EV that will replace the Camaro will be astounding. Initial work is just now beginning on it. Imagine Camaro SS levels of performance as the base model. That should tell you something.

        1. I know it’s anecdotal, but I see Challengers and Chargers all over the place. I rarely see Camaros around.

I suspect Richard is probably right about the demise of the Camaro.

  5. EV MarE will turn GM in to EM…Electric Motors. GM has focused on cash cow products, truck and SUV. The trucks rust out in a few years and their SUVs are underpowered and overpriced. Look at the Blazer…kind of a Camaro, kind of not. Small, cramped and $10K over priced. They can’t decide on a style for products. The Camaro had a poor launch and has been botched ever since. So poorly executed. They blame the car but not themselves. They are to blame. Zero marketing. Look at Dodge…they keep reinventing the same car and they market it and they’re killing it. Ford keeps the Mustang alive and popular. GM has screwed so much stuff up it’s a wonder they still exist. Ford relies on the F150. Without it, Ford would be dead. The Explorer is $20K overpriced for what you get.

How does Toyota have a big and little truck, a minivan, 3 sedans…3…, and a couple SUVs. Honda not much different. But GM and Ford say sedans are dead. No just they’re sedans. Ford has the option of 15 different SUVs. Now add in the Mach E…come on. What’s MarE going to do, un ugly electric over priced, undersized Camaro suv?

As usual GM and Ford are aimlessly trying to play catch up and predict the future and have done a poor job at both. Move Cadillac to NY. Epic failure. Toyota, Honda and Dodge/Chrysler/Ram have great options and priced properly for what you get. You may buy a F150 or Mustang, otherwise lease a Ford. If you get anything from GM, lease it. Value doesn’t hold, quality doesn’t hold and the truck will be rusty when the lease is up.

GM lost a large family with 60 years of loyalty. We have 1 Ford, all else is Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and Toyota.

  6. To put a Dodge on the same reliability level as a Toyota screams inexperience

    Reply
    1. It’s just statistics. You can’t assume that because it’s a Toyota it is more reliable. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence that Toyota is more reliable, but that’s worth exactly nothing compared to actual data.

What I’m saying is, you can absolutely put Dodge at the same or a higher reliability level than Toyota if they are having less problems.

To put Toyota and Dodge on the same reliability level SCREAMS inexperience thanks

    1. That’s great, but if the data shows similar reliability, then I want them listed as being the same, not skewed by anyone’s experience, which is just bias.

  10. My camaro ss redline was totaled on July 4th and I haven’t been the same mentally since.
It seems like Dodge/Jeep etc…. it’s being ran and developed by the coolest kids in school and Gm is being ran and developed by Grandma. I’ve been a GM man since I could drive.
Gm should have kept Pontiac. I think I’m going to get one of those overpriced Explorer St’s next. As bad as I want another Camaro I’m still stuck in my totaled one. It’ll be my first Ford ever.

  11. The camaro is a very nice car for the price. I just drove one the other day and its fine to look out of. I think the biggest issues the back seat. You really can’t put 4 people in the car. I if driver is above 5’9″ you aren’t putting anyone behind them. Plan on getting one in 2021 and I will have a lot of fun with it.
