Roadster Shop is now offering a new chassis for second-generation, F-body Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebird muscle cars between the 1970 and 1981 model years. Now, Roadster Shop is highlighting the new chassis in the following video.
Clocking in at eight minutes, 43 seconds, the video goes over what makes the new Roadster Shop chassis unique, as well as what it has to offer builders looking to upgrade their second-generation Chevy Camaro or Pontiac Firebird.
The new chassis comes from Roadster Shop’s SPEC series of products, and is offered as a bolt-on solution for easy install without any floor modifications required.
The new SPEC chassis is designed to fit any of GM’s LS V8 engine platforms, as well as the LT V8 engine line. Transmission options include the most popular choices out there, including 4L60, 4L80, TKO, and T56, all of which fit nicely underneath the stock floor without modifications.
Making this possible is an adjustable transmission mount, which is notched to fit a three-inch exhaust system. The gas tank design includes specs for a 19-gallon unit made from stainless steel, and bolts right in for easy assembly.
The chassis also accommodates the factory subrail in back, adding to overall strength. The brake lines are mounted out of harm’s way.
“Every aspect of this car build, every safety feature, every bolt-on, every modification that you would wanna do, we’ve thought of it and we’ve integrated it,” Roadster Shop says.
Second-generation Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebird vehicles will bolt right in using the front factory subframe mounting locations, while the rear utilizes an integrated Roadster Shop body mounting kit with fabricated brackets.
Further features include IFS, fixed valve coilovers, power rack and pinion steering, and a four-bar rear suspension. The rear end is a Ford nine-inch with 31 spline axles.
Pricing starts at $11,995, with a long list of extras on offer for added customization. Check it out in detail in the video below.
