Mint 1978 GMC C35 Dually With Cummins Diesel Engine Up For Sale: Video

Finding a well-preserved, classic General Motors pickup truck on the used market isn’t always easy, but this mint 1978 GMC C35 dually seems to fit the bill. With a number of tastefully executed upgrades matched to a clean body and interior, this pickup is now up for sale in Texas.

Let’s start with what we’re actually looking at here. This specific model is a 1978 GMC C35 Crew Cab 2WD Dually in the Sierra Grande trim. This thing hits the pavement with a wide and extremely long stance, and the body panels are finished in a tasty green-and-white two-tone treatment. The seller also states that the truck is equipped with 22-inch Alcoa wheels (although they are likely 22.5-inch wheels), with the rollers wrapped in Hankook tires sized at 265/40. In back is a spray-in bedliner.

Inside the cabin, we find acres of brown leather upholstery, which is matched to plaid inserts for the seats. The previous owner also saw fit to add a few modern touches, such as Vintage Air air conditioning and Dakota Digital gauges.

The modernity continues under the hood, where this 1978 GMC C35 comes with a Cummins diesel engine conversion, specifically a 5.9L 12-valve I-6 oil burner that’s turbocharged and intercooled. Keeping the new Cummins engine cool is a set of new electric fans.

As seen in the video at the bottom of the post, the diesel engine starts and runs quite nicely. It connects to the four rear wheels by way of the 47RE four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.

Finally, this 1978 GMC C35 also comes with power steering, plus Hydroboost brakes with front discs for added drivability.

The odometer on this 1978 GMC C35 reads just 5,429 miles. Now, it’s listed for sale in Sherman, Texas, for $34,500.
