The all-new, 2021 Cadillac Escalade luxury SUV is now available for pre-order in Japan, in advance of customer deliveries scheduled to begin next summer. GM Japan’s pre-ordering campaign began on November 13th and will run until January 17th. The latter date is the third and final day of the Tokyo Auto Salon, where the model will first be displayed to the Japanese public.
The fifth-generation 2021 Cadillac Escalade, an exclusively left-hand drive vehicle, is unlikely to be a big seller in Japan, a right-hand drive country. Understandably, the range of choices is therefore much more limited there than it is in the U.S. For example, Cadillac’s Y trim level strategy does not apply there, because there are not enough trim levels for it to apply to. Japanese customers will be able to buy Platinum or Sport models, but nothing else. In addition, only the regular-length Escalade will be offered, with the Escalade ESV not being part of the menu.
Similarly, the range of colors seems very restrictive when compared to what’s offered in North America. The Platinum will be available in Sable Black (Black Raven in North America), Crystal White Tricoat, Dark Mocca Metallic, Shadow Metallic or Sandstone Metallic paintwork, and either Jet Black or Whisper Beige with Gideon accents interior colorways. The Sport offers no choice at all – the only available exterior color is Sable Black (Black Raven) and the only interior color is Jet Black.
However, these restrictions do not apply during the pre-ordering process. The color choice for the 2021 Cadillac Escalade is still narrower in Japan than it is in the U.S., but not to the same extent as it will be from January 18th onwards. For the duration of the pre-order period, there are eight exterior colors and three interior colorways available for each trim level, as follows:

Enthusiastically described by Cadillac’s Japanese press office as “pursuing advanced technology and ultimate American luxury” and “Cadillac’s masterpiece”, the 2021 Cadillac Escalade is offered in Japan only with the naturally-aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline EcoTec3 engine with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, mated to the GM Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission. The 3.0L I6 LM2Â turbodiesel Duramax engine is not being offered to Japanese customers.

Anyone else think the Escalade mesh grill is kind of bland?
I agree.
Here we go once again, ‘Escalade is too big and too thirsty for Europe’ but somehow for Japan not. CT5 will soon be offered in Japan too. And what do 20 Cadillac dealers in Europe get? One car – XT4 ! Bravo General Mistake !
