Joe Biden has been declared the winner in the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election, beating Donald Trump to become the 46th President of the United States. A flurry of congratulations and acknowledgements for the new president-elect have followed the announcement of Biden’s victory, including a statement from General Motors.

General Motors acknowledged Biden’s victory by calling for policies that support GM’s U.S.-based manufacturing efforts and the automaker’s move towards all-electric vehicle development and production.
“We look forward to working with the new administration and incoming Congress on policies that support our customers, dealers and employees, help strengthen our manufacturing presence in the United States and advance our vision of an all-electric, zero-emissions future,” said General Motors spokeswoman, Jeannine Givivan, in a statement.

General Motors’ crosstown rivals also acknowledged Biden’s win, with Ford Motor Company issuing a statement congratulating the new president-elect, newly elected officials, and re-elected officials. “It is our hope these leaders will focus on bringing the country together and pursue policies that encourage U.S. manufacturing, sustainability and global economic stability,” Ford said in a statement.
Meanwhile, FCA said that it “looks forward to working with president-elect Joe Biden, vice president-elect Kamala Harris, and the new congress to strengthen the automotive industry and build a more secure future for our employees, customers and society.”
Presiden-elect Joe Biden was active throughout his campaign in courting the auto industry. During the Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee, United Auto Workers member Gerald Lang was asked to speak and show the union’s support for then-nominee Joe Biden. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer also spoke, praising Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s actions to save the auto industry during the 2008 – 2010 industry crisis.
Biden has also been active on Twitter showing his passion for the Chevrolet Corvette, while also showing support for greater adoption of all-electric vehicles.
“I believe that we can own the 21st century market again by moving to electric vehicles,” Biden said in a campaign ad back in August.

Be careful of what you wish. A past admin tried to make it illegal to modify any new cars period. Even if you bought a Camaro just yo race removing any thing from it would have been a very expensive fine. This would have damage a number of racing series and events. Many of the aftermarket performance companies would also have suffered. I had to fight this one for my job. We enlisted congressman from both parties to fight the EPA and the administration in office from getting away with this.

Well during most of Obama’s rein gas was between 3.00-4.50 a gallon for 87 octane. My 403B was stagnant around 25-30K never going above that. About half of my friends and family members were out of work or floating between crummy low paying jobs until something came along and my paycheck was far lower with more taxes taken out. Fast forward to 2016. All of my friends are back to work and most have salaries they can live on. Gas prices have been between 1.89-2.29 a gallon. My 403B is over 50K and climbing. My paycheck saw a nice substantial raise and taxes taken out were lowered in 2018. And that is just a few thoughts off the top of my head.
Gas went prices went down under Obama because Bush expanded oil drilling. From what I understand it takes 4-6 years from approval to pumping oil.

For those who understand the idea of defunding the police, it’s the best thing to do. For those who refuse to read and understand what defunding the police really means, they just use the dog whistles and cry foul. I am totally for correctly defunding the police. Thus, allowing the police to do the work they should be doing in the first place and not playing lawyer, therapists, counselor, school principal, housing authority, dog catcher, and the list goes on. Very interesting to actually read all these comments. For the record before my full comment: I am an EX republican and for good reason. I am an independent by far. I like John Kasich. But I also like Joe Biden. I find the current republican party has totally lost it’s purpose, yet the Dems are not much better. Trump has been an embarrassment to our country. However, financially our country isn’t too bad after his 4 year run. Guns don’t kill people, but people with guns do. Our planet is at the tipping point environmentally, and all the proof and science points to that. The medical community and science must direct us about COVID, not any politician. I am very conservative, yet have no way to identify with the republican party that is supposed to be conservative. And I find the current list of most republican leaders to be spineless warts and am now totally repulsed by “Christianity”, my Catholic church, their leaders and how the majority of them don’t come close to acting how Christ would have. With that said:
I supported Biden this time for darn good reason. As I read the above comments, it’s getting nastier and nastier. But here are a few things I’d like for some on the “right” to please answer.
1. When Clinton won the popular vote in 2016 and the polls all had her ahead and yet she lost, were you crying foul about that election? Nope. Even though there were issues then, did she have a tantrum? Nope. She did exactly what Trump must do and concede.
2. Why are the Trumpers and republicans ONLY going after the election results in the states he lost in? Why not go back and contest ALL the states including the one’s he won along with the GOP senators/congressmen/women?
3. When all signs showed Clinton would win AND she won the popular vote, where was your outrage then? Does your outrage only come out if your team loses?
4. In 2000 when Gore won the popular vote and only needed Florida to win the electoral college, where was your outrage when the courts declared Bush the winner by giving him the state of Florida? A state being run by his own brother? Again, no outrage there because Gore was a Dem? If the Dems acted like all of you are, things would have been much different back then and again when Clinton conceded to Trump.
5. What is your explanation now about FOX news? Now that they have said Trump should move on and concede, will you now put FOX in the fake news category too? When will you stop doing that? If Alex Jones got hit over the head really hard and the next morning woke up and said Trump must concede because he lost, would you then label Jones as fake news?
6. Can you all stop going back to the pre-Covid economy when you attempt to claim things are so good? Trump failed our nation in every way with Covid. The economic woes we now have are part of the deal that he gave us. You don’t get to choose only a few good things and claim he was a great president. You get the entire package. Your cherry picking is ignorant and disgusting at best.
7. Please explain the massive amount of people who still identify with the republican party but have spoken out against Trump. Explain the massive number of people who left working under his administration. Help those of us who look on in disgust to understand how you can look at the nasty Trump is in every way and not call him out on it. Yet, you want to blast anyone who identifies as Democrat as bad and trash everyone who doesn’t buy into your stories.
8. Finally, we used the same broken and terrible electoral college system this time that we used in 2016, 2012, 2008, 2004, 2000 and so on. It needs to go and this country must go with the person who wins the popular vote. But that’s an entire different time and site. But explain why this time you feel the same system used in all our elections should not be followed in the same way? In other words, the AP/media has called elections for the “winner” for as long as I’ve been around in my 53 years. Why is that wrong now?
Trump lost. Biden won. Accept it and move on just like the rest of us did in 2000 and again in 2016.

I as a conservative, can calmly discuss many points and respect alternative liberal rejoinders and calmly respond to them… Most of us conservatives are like this – allowing a broad range of opinions and not constantly correcting every falsity people who disagree with us state.
I was a Liberal my whole life but recently I’ve turned conservative because I realized other conservatives share these values as I do. Liberals like to attack anyone who doesn’t share their opinion, whereas most conservatives will calmly reason with you and have a discussion. Conservatives are god fearing people, that value family, and refrain from swearing/cussing like a construction worker. If you look at all these “protests” it’s the Liberals who are rioting, causing havoc, and hurting people. Conservatives respect the law and police officers.
