General Motors Offers First Glimpse Of GMC Hummer EV SUV

Back in October, General Motors revealed the reborn, all-new GMC Hummer EV, debuting the high-tech off-roader during a livestreamed event. The model presented was the pickup truck variant, but critically, there’s a second body style just over the horizon – namely the Hummer EV SUV. We’ve already seen the new Hummer EV SUV as a rendering, but now, General Motors has provided the first real-life glimpse of the upcoming utility vehicle.

During the recent Barclays 2020 Global Automotive Conference held on November 19th, the new GMC Hummer EV SUV was parked on stage behind Executive Vice President Global Product Development, Purchasing & Supply Chain, Doug Parks.

Unfortunately, General Motors did not provide any additional information on the new GMC Hummer EV SUV. Nevertheless, the new utility vehicle’s specs are expected to be identical to those of the recently revealed pickup truck model, albeit with a new SUV body.

As a reminder, the latest GMC Hummer EV pickup is currently offered with either a dual-motor powertrain, or a three-motor powertrain, with the range-topping three-motor Edition 1 producing more than 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, sprinting to 60 mph in about 3 seconds. Other powertrain options include 625 horsepower and 800 horsepower.

The new GMC Hummer pickup is also equipped with a 12.3-inch diagonal digital instrument cluster, as well as a 13.4-inch digital infotainment screen, not to mention a raft of high-tech features for added comfort, convenience, and capability off-road.

Production for both the GMC Hummer EV SUV and the GMC Hummer EV pickup are slated for the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan, formerly known as GM Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly. The new Hummer EV SUV is expected to officially debut next year, arriving in dealers in 2022. Meanwhile, the pickup model is set to go on sale next year.

  1. Major changes are happening at General Motors based on technology, design and venerable name plates. Provided the US economy is stable my prediction is that GMC, already growing, plus it’s new Hummer line will become The General’s profit center.
A GMC EV Hummer is desirable to the premium buyer and like Jeep will appeal to Benz/BMW consumers. The same can not be said for Cadillac & Ruess says EV is The Crest’s last chance (at least outside China). US sale of a small Cadillac SUV lineup (4-5) vehicle will turn a profit yet mean the brand will never be a true German rival.
GMC/Hummer is besting Rivian, Tesla and all other rivals in the EV Truck and SUV space and profits should be huge. This may also provide Buick a sort of Halo effect making the premium brand more competitive going forward.
FCA ten years ago was about Chrysler and Dodge and we see how that worked out. Over the next decade I expect GM to change a lot, too, especially if the alliance with Honda grows tighter. None of this takes into account GM’s military efforts.
People should buy GM stocks now!

      1. It’s plainly obvious that you haven’t made any physical contact with boobs in your life, beta boy. All good if you don’t like this, I love a massive V8 as much as the next guy. But you don’t need to admit all your insecurities on a public forum, makes you look…weak.

    1. I’m glad Blazer is a hit, that ‘nox does well, but can’t help but feel like Chevy is where Dodge and Chrysler were 10-15 years ago.
It was a relevant brand but not on many people’s radar? I don’t think 3 banger Trailblazer will help climb on anyone’s wish list with those fake tow hooks. Same goes for Bolt EUV.
Chevrolet has decent quality, does well with young Hispanics, is no worse than Nissan, but needs a direction. Camaro and Silverado in third place, regardless of pricing, tells us a lot about brand perception.
Instead of benchmark against Toyota or Subaru it’s GM’s current “Excitment” brand and a recipe for failure with LATAM 3 cylinders that even VW avoids States Side.

  3. Great Job on the Hummer EV GM! This is a competitor to the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler, it’s just that they’re not electric like the GMC Hummer.

@member12, That’s not the Bolt EUV, that’s the Equinox-Sized Crossover that will launch in 2024, plus the Bolt EUV is smaller.

Right on with the Chevy, that’s not the Bolt, that’s the mid-sizer. No clue what it’ll be called.

And I agree 100% with the Hummer. I think that’s the best-looking vehicle to ever sport the Hummer name, and it’s not even that close. It manages to keep the taught, aggressive look of the H3, but blown to closer to H2-size, without looking gaudy or cartoonish. Most unbelievable to me is how they’ve made the design look like such a natural progression, even though Hummer has been dead for 10 years. Feels like it never left!

      1. @G8Burnout, I 100% Agree with you, I reminds me so much of the Hummer H3 which is a good thing, I also like how the interior looks like a Hummer instead of a GMC! The Hummer will start the expansion of GM Off-Road Vehicles!

        1. @Justin Smith,

I agree! The Hummer is the making of a TRUE sub-brand…which GM does very well. Corvette and Denali are both extremely successful examples.

  6. Finally its come with off road skills and the best feature I love the most was crab walk at 10 degree which is unique feature of hummer EV. It does not matter why hummer came after a long time in competition it’s matter that it will come with competitive car with best features. I think it will change car revolution in automotive industry. The last thing that I love was hummer front lights with it’s good looks.
