Codemaster released Dirt 5 on November 6th, making it the eight game in the series to carry the Dirt title. The racing game features a roster of 63 cars from manufacturers around the world, among which is the 2020 Cadillac Escalade.
The full-size Cadillac SUV is in the “Pre-Runners” category alongside other SUVs and trucks, including the Porsche Cayenne Transsyberia, Ford F-150 Raptor, and Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison. Interestingly, this category also includes concept cars like the Audi AI: TRAIL Quattro and Mitsubishi e-VOLUTION.
In the off-road racing world, a pre-runner is a highly modified vehicle designed to scout the tracks and trails so the racing team can get a feel of what to expect when they send their drivers out in the actual race.
Turning the Escalade into a dirt monster meant the Dirt 5 team needed to make some serious changes to how the luxury SUV looks and drives. For starters, the suspension was lifted and a front lower skid plate was mounted to protect the underbelly, as was a roof-mounted LED light bar for better visibility.
We don’t have any power figures for the in-game race-ready Cadillac Escalade, but we do know that the stock 2020 model was powered by a 6.2L V8 L86 engine producing 420 horsepower from the factory.
Meanwhile, the all-new 2021 Cadillac Escalade began arriving at dealers in mid-October. The completely-overhauled luxury SUV is offered with an optional 3.0 L I6 LM2 turbodiesel engine and a standard atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine. Both motors are mated to GM’s longitudinally-mounted 10-speed automatic transmission.
Dirt 5 is available now for purchase on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox. The game will also be one of the launch titles for the Playstation 5 when the next-generation console goes on sale this month.
