COMP Cams Releases New Stage 2 Turbo Camshaft Kit For GM 4.8L LS V8

COMP Cams has released a new upgrade camshaft kit designed specifically for iron block General Motors 4.8L LS V8 engines running an aftermarket turbocharged setup.

COMP Cams says its new Stage 2 LST Turbo Camshaft & Cam Kit features camshaft lobe profiles “designed to maximize horsepower, while improving stability at higher RPM.” The company says it also dyno tested this new cam profile “with many combinations of valve train components,” to create a kit that is “perfectly matched for maximum horsepower and dependability in turbocharged GM 4.8L LS V8 race engines with low back pressure turbo systems.”

This kit is compatible with the various iron block GM 4.8L LS V8 engines that have been built over the years, including the LR4, LY2 and L20. These reliable V8 engines were previously available in a variety of GM products, including the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks, among more.

The Stage 2 LST Turbo Camshaft & Cam Kit includes a camshaft, pushrods, dual valve springs, steel retainers, valve locks, spring seats and valve seals. The entire kit costs $1,124.39 USD, but the Stage 2 cam is also available for purchase separately for $424.59 USD. COMP Cams also offer optional rocker arm upgrades and LS Cam Install Kits, which come with all the required gaskets, the crank seal, crank and cam bolts needed for easy at-home installation.

COMP Cams debuted this new camshaft upgrade kit during the SEMA360 show this week, an online-only event that is being held in place of the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. GM has also unveiled some of its own performance parts during SEMA360, including the Electric Connect and Cruise system and the new GM 6.6 L8T cylinder block.
