Once again, Chevrolet Brazil sales suffered a considerable decline in October, with a double-digit drop during the month. The results represent Chevy’s seventh consecutive sales contraction in Brazil, while also being the third consecutive month that the Bow Tie brand has placed third in sales in the country, behind Fiat and Volkswagen. Historically, Chevrolet has been the best-selling automobile brand in Brazil, the largest market in South America.

There is some positive news, however, and that is that Chevrolet has regained its best-selling status for the first ten months of the year, a status it had lost for the first time in September.

Although half of the brand’s models saw large declines in sales volume in October, including the best-selling Chevrolet Onix, five nameplates positive stood out by posting significant increases on a year-over-year basis. These include Camaro, Equinox, S10, Tracker and TrailBlazer

The outstanding increase in Camaro sales is directly related to the recent launch of the 2021 model year of the muscle car in Brazil. In addition, the increase in Equinox, Tracker and TrailBlazer sales is the result of a systematic growth in demand for utilities.

Furthermore, we attribute the uptick in S10 sales with the positive acceptance of the recently-launched refresh. In fact, the 3,401 sales of the midsize pickup truck in October represent its best figure so far for the 2020 calendar year, allowing it to become the best-selling model in its segment during the month.

For its part, the all-new Chevrolet Tracker continues its ascent in the sales charts, becoming the best-selling utility vehicle in the Brazilian market and registering a new sales record with 6,595 units. GM has just launched a new advertising campaign for the Tracker in Brazil to further boost the vehicle’s performance in the Brazilian utility segment.
