The GM Authority Take

After suffering three consecutive months of contraction, Chevrolet Argentina sales posted a healthy increase in October. The Bowtie brand benefited from a notable recovery in vehicle demand in the Argentine automotive market, which experienced an increase of 13.6 percent last month, following a period of restrictions on commercial activity decreed by local authorities due to COVID-19 in previous months.

Chevy’s positive performance in October is primarily supported by impressive increase of the Chevrolet Onix and Cruze, the brand’s two best-selling models in the South American country. The Onix strengthened its position as the most popular Chevrolet model with a whopping 84 percent increase, while the Cruze sold considerably more than double the number of units on a year-over-year basis. In fact, the 835 deliveries recorded in October represent the best monthly sales figure the compact vehicle has achieved in the last 18 months.

In addition, the Chevrolet S10 also had a solid performance, obtaining its second-best result thus far in 2020, only second to the 735 units sold during the month of June. The updated, 2021 S10 is expected to launch in Argentina before the end of the year.
