Body Armor 4×4 Releases New Ambush Series Bumpers For Chevy Silverado 1500

Ontario, California-based company Body Armor 4×4 has revealed its new Ambush line of off-road bumpers for the current-generation Chevy Silverado 1500.

The Ambush series line from Body Armor 4×4 are made out of 3/16 of an inch and quarter-inch cold rolled steel and feature a light textured surface with a black finish. The bumpers are designed to offer additional protection from rocks, trees and other objects when off-roading, but perhaps more important for some, they also improve the look of the current Chevy Silverado 1500 by giving it a more aggressive exterior appearance.

These bumpers also bolt into the OEM bumper mount points and are compatible with all OEM parking sensors. Those with the optional Duramax turbo-diesel 3.0L LM2 inline-six engine will need to order the optional diesel motor intercooler shroud from Body Armor 4×4 if they wish to install this bumper on their vehicle, however.

One downside to these bumpers is that they are not winch compatible, so off-roaders looking for a steel bumper that will work in unison with their winch should look elsewhere. On the upside, the front bumper can mount two 30-inch LED light bars and a pair of cube LED lights, while the rear bumper has space for two additional cube LEDs. Additionally, the front and rear bumpers have two welded D-ring/tow hook mounts. The example truck pictured in this article has two slick-looking red painted tow hooks through these D-rings mounts on both the front and rear bumpers, which looks pretty cool, in our opinion.

Body Armor 4×4 unveiled its new Ambush series line of bumpers during the SEMA360 online show this week, which is being held in replacement of the canceled SEMA Show. Westin Automotive Products also showed off its new line of steel bumpers for the Chevrolet Silverado at the show and built a custom Chevy Silverado 2500HD to promote the launch.

  1. Do the bumpers fit the GMC models? Or strictly Chevy?

    1. I’m gonna guess it only fits Chevy because of the way it goes into the “fish gill” section. GMC has a different trim piece. I wouldn’t be surprised if the mounting points line up, but I bet you’d be cutting a lot of trim on GMC to get it to fit.
