After being launched for the first time in Ecuador last month, the refreshed international-market 2021 Chevrolet Colorado is rapidly expanding into Latin American markets. Almost simultaneously with the recent launches in Chile and Argentina – where it is sold under the S10 nameplate, General Motors has announced that the updated midsize pickup has officially arrived in Colombia.
Since its introduction in the Colombian market in late 2017, the Chevrolet Colorado has successfully complemented the Chevrolet pickup portfolio by positioning itself above the popular Chevy D-Max as the most powerful and technologically advanced model in its category. Now, the 2021 Colorado has received a series of design, technology and safety improvements that will reinforce its position as the most sophisticated pickup in the South American country.
“With this evolution, the new Colorado will revolutionize its segment as the best option in the market, with unique attributes and details that just don’t exist in the category,” said Commercial Director of GM Colombia, Raúl Mier, in a press release. “And precisely thinking about everything that this pickup meant for the region, what we are bringing to our country today is a winning vehicle, designed for a customer looking for comfort, power and excellent performance,” he affirmed.
Like the three previous model years, the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado arrives in Colombia from the Brazilian GM São José dos Campos plant in range-topping LTZ and High Country trim levels. As such, the pickup is only available in the country in Crew Cab 4WD configuration. Mechanically, both versions maintain the class-leading Duramax turbo-diesel 2.8L I4 XLD28 engine, developing 200 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, which can be mated to six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.
Apart from its mild styling revisions, the refreshed 2021 Chevrolet Colorado stands out for its segment-exclusive list of latest-generation features. It is the first model in the pickup category to offer an on-board Wi-Fi hotspot as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. In addition, it has the most advanced safety suite with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, six airbags, and lane keep assist.
The updated 2021 Chevrolet Colorado is now on sale at the Bow Tie brand’s official dealership network in Colombia, where it boasts a solid 5-year/100,000-kilometer warranty and is available with a total of six body colors: White, Silver, Gray, Black, Red Wine and Dark Blue. Having completed its launch in the markets where it is sold under the S10 name, in 2021 Colorado will soon reach other more Latino ones such as Peru, Panama, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Honduras.
The starting prices of the refreshed 2021 Chevrolet Colorado’s two trim levels in the Colombian market are the following:
- 2021 Colorado LTZ Manual: 144,900,000 COP (about $39,700 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2021 Colorado High Country: 155,900,000 COP ($42,730 USD)
