Earlier this week, GMC officially announced the 2021 Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition, a new package for the Canyon AT4 that will be available to order later in 2020. When making the announcement, GMC revealed everything there is to know about the package, with the exception of one key bit of information: the price. However, we have since learned how much the package will cost.
Sources familiar with the go-to-market plans for the 2021 Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition tell GM Authority that the package will be priced at $3,195. That package cost is on top of the 2021 GMC Canyon AT4, which starts at:
Crew Cab / Short Box
- $39,395 for the AT4 with cloth seating and the 3.6L V6 LGZ gasoline engine
- $41,195 for the AT4 with leather seating and the 3.6L V6 LGZ gasoline engine
- $45,570 for the AT4 with leather seating and the turbodiesel 2.8L I4 LWN engine
Crew Cab / Long Box
- $39,995 for the AT4 with cloth seating and the 3.6L V6 LGZ gasoline engine
- $41,795 for the AT4 with leather seating and the 3.6L V6 LGZ gasoline engine
- $45,920 for the AT4 with leather seating and the turbodiesel 2.8L I4 LWN engine
The 2021 Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition includes several exterior and interior features which are not normally included as standard on the Canyon AT4, nearly all of them dedicated to making the midsize pickup truck more capable off-road.
- Exterior:
- Front leveling kit
- Off-road rocker panel protectors
- Front performance skid plate
- Mid performance skid plate
- 17×8-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels
- Carbon Black AT4 logos
- Gloss Black performance exhaust tip
- Spray-in bedliner
- Interior:
- All-weather floor liners
One final change involves the removal of the Canyon AT4’s front air dam. Immediately noticeable to anyone looking at the truck head-on and from the side, this considerably improves off-road capability of the AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition, increasing the front approach angle by 35 percent to nearly 30 degrees.
The Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition is otherwise identical to the Canyon AT4. Its list of standard equipment therefore includes 4WD, 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, Advanced Hill Descent Control and an Eaton G80 rear automatic locking differential.
The 2021 Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition is offered with either the 3.6L LGZ V6 gasoline engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission or the less powerful but more torquey 2.8L I4 LWN diesel mated to a six-speed auto. The 2021 Canyon AT4 is offered in two body configurations – the Crew Cab, Short Box and the Crew Cab Long Box.
Comments
The halogen headlamps look so old.
They took the All terrain added some extra bits.
They then removed the SLT and replaced it with the AT4 with a better trim than you could get inside the All Terrain. They also put the Denali to pick up the on road buyers.
The All terrain had a limited selection of interior options.
I’m working with my dealer to buy one of these, and I’ve learned a couple things in the process, including one BIG difference from this article. When you do the “Build & Price” on the GMC website, the “AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition Package” is not visible, HOWEVER, if during your AT4 build you select the 17″ Gloss Black Wheels, Front Leveling Kit, or the Black AT4 badges (Which all appear without prices) ALL the other package selections will automatically load.
One BIG difference from the article though, which we discovered on both the Build & Price section of the GMC webpage AND on “GM Global Connect” where dealers build your order, YOU CANNOT HAVE THIS PACKAGE WITH THE 2.8 DURAMAX.
Another strange thing is you cannot order the performance exhaust for the V6. (Maybe because of the included Black Chrome Exhaust tip?)
Sorry folks, I really wanted the 2.8 Duramax with this package, so at this moment, deciding if I want to “settle” for the V6 is making me hesitate before placing my order.
Your findings are incorrect. You can get this package with the diesel.
Hey, in this particular circumstance, I’d LOVE to be proven wrong, since I want the Diesel anyway.
If you have proof of otherwise, terrific. Sincerely!
All I know is my salesman (Who’s been doing this for many years now) went on GM Global Connect Friday afternoon trying to build this combination, and it would not allow a Canyon AT4 Leather configuration that included both the 2.8 Duramax and this package (Code PEB)
Hopefully, you’re right and its just some electronic gremlin preventing both GM Global Connect and the GMC Build & Price systems from giving me what I want.
I’m more than happy to wait and see!
However, based on what the 2 build sites would allow Friday afternoon, I stand behind what I said in my original post. If that ends up being changed, or corrected, Fantastic!
Truth! I’m in Canada and the Performance Edition Pkg. isn’t even available. I just tried using GMC’s build a vehicle on their US site and sure enough as soon as you select the Performance Edition it removes the diesel engine. Also the Hunter colour is not showing as available in either Canada or the US.
Good lord, they’re proud of their trucks! Way to much for a midsize!
The reality is $25K doesn’t buy much today no matter the model This truck is right on the average cost of a vehicle today.
Since the volume is much lower you will not see the big rebates like you see on the full size. While the mid size is not for everyone the same can be said for the full size. I have no interest in a full size truck.
The midsize pickup is the family car these days and the room had to increase for the buyers.
Why can’t I get an extended cab with AT4 or Denali package? I have no use for a four door interior.
You say that now until you actually have 4 full doors and quickly realize just how much you love, needed and always wanted the extra space and just didn’t know it.
The black wheels fad needs to die, those are just hideous.
That’s your opinion, which isn’t supported by GM or the marketplace
Do you have the towing capacity of the normal canyon or is it more like the zr2 with the lower tow rating
They might just as well have black steel wheels if they want black wheels. No need for alloy wheels. I certainly don’t know why someone would pay extra for black wheels.
GM’s prerequisite to creating any new package for their midsized trucks…. Throw those ugly black Colorado wheels on it! GM really missed the mark here. How hard would it have been to make the AT4 performance edition with ZR2 underpinnings and offer it to customers looking for something different?
