The 2022 GMC Hummer EV has landed, resurrecting the legendary off-roader nameplate as a high-tech, all-electric pickup truck. In addition to packing in a laundry list of futuristic features, the new GMC Hummer EV interior also comes with a cool lunar-themed Easter Egg.
As confirmed by Hummer Nation, the range-topping Hummer EV Edition 1 comes with a topographical map of the Sea of Tranquility set into the grille of the speakers inside the cabin.
For those who may not remember, the Sea of Tranquility is the lunar mare where Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed in the Apollo 11 Lunar Module on July 20th, 1969, becoming the first humans to ever set foot on the surface of the Moon.
Armstrong and Aldrin would no doubt have appreciated using a vehicle like the GMC Hummer EV while traversing the Moon’s challenging terrain. As a side note, the famous Lunar Roving Vehicle used in later Apollo missions was battery-powered, a necessity given the absence of any substantial atmosphere on the Moon.
Regardless, these lunar topographic maps are cool little details for the 2022 GMC Hummer EV interior, and the Moon-themed Easter Egg in the speakers complements the rest of the cabin design in the range-topping Edition 1 trim level. In fact, the standard Edition 1 interior color scheme is dubbed “Lunar Horizon,” and includes white, black, gray, and bronze colors throughout, as well as 12.3-inch Driver Information Display, and a 13.4-inch infotainment system touchscreen.
The Lunar Horizon GMC Hummer EV interior theme is also offered as an available option on the remaining three trim levels, which include the EV2, the EV2X, and the EV3X.
As a reminder, the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 boasts 1,000 horsepower and three electric motors for motivation, while lower trims offer two to three electric motors and 625 to 800 horsepower. The Edition 1 will be the first model to arrive in the Fall of 2021.

YOU FORGOT ABOUT THE BOOT PRINT 😛
i thought the inspiration was spilled spaghetti.
the wtf abbreviation for “watts to freedom” seems a little sophomoric. straight out of the tesla playbook.
Not only was the rover electric, GM was subcontracted to build certain parts of it.
The three Lunar Rovers were made by GM and Boeing.
Not sure why the truck is titled as an “EV” rather than a “BEV”. As every one knows one of the early “EV’S was the VOLT, as the drive wheels were powered entirely by an Electric Motor with a battery and a gasoline engine as a backup to ensure a greater driving distances beyond the capacity of the battery alone. Whereas the Hummer is purely a “BEV” (BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLE) and there is no other source of power other than the Battery and nothing within the vehicle to recharge the battery while driving.
