New Chevrolet Onix Plus Has Best Resale Value In Brazil

The new Chevrolet Onix Plus has just been recognized as boasting the highest resale value of all vehicles sold in Brazil, the birthplace and main market for the successful General Motors subcompact. On Wednesday, October 28th, the second-generation Onix sedan variant received the overall 2020 Greatest Resale Value Seal from the automotive publication Autoinforme, highlighting the vehicle that depreciated the least during the last 12 months in the Brazilian market.

With a depreciation of just 7.6 percent after one year on the road, the Chevrolet Onix Plus not only held the highest resale value the most in its category, but it was also the vehicle with the greatest resale value in the entire Brazilian automotive market. In fact, the Onix Plus became the first sedan to obtain the overall champion in this depreciation study that has been carried out in the South American country for the past twenty consecutive years.

“The Onix is recognized for the low maintenance costs and reliability of the Chevrolet brand as well as its wide technological offer,” said Chevrolet Product Marketing Manager for Brazil, Isabel Souza, in a statement. “For the consumer to buy a model that has the highest resale value seal, it is proof that he or she is making the best choice, both from a personal and financial point of view,” she added.

The Greatest Resale Value Awards are an annual recognition published by Autoinforme for Brazilian consumers, which is specialized in the analysis of all aspects related to the purchase of vehicles and their total cost of ownership. It serves as the main reference for value that the automotive industry and dealerships have to offer for families in Brazil.

Listing winners in 15 categories, the publication’s depreciation study is based on the market price, and not the list price of the vehicles, in order to determine which ones maintain the highest resale value after a year on the road. This year, 102 models from 20 brands were evaluated and the Chevrolet Onix Plus was the only winning GM model, placing first in the compact sedan and grabbing the “overall champion” title.

This recognition is the most recent example of the Chevrolet Onix’s tremendous level of acceptance in the Brazilian market, where it has been the best-selling nameplate for the past five years, and has completely revolutionized the entry-level car segment. The arrival of the second-generation Onix last year further reinforced this positioning, setting higher standards for safety, performance, feature content and design.

  1. Why has it not reached the Caribbean market?
Due to its size and fuel economy it is ideal for leasing companies

  2. Well, that’s outstanding.

Smaller (cheaper) cars always hold a better resale than higher end cars anyhow. This hold true for every maker and brand/model. This hold even more true years down the road. Take for example a Lexus LS 400/430/460 and a Toyota Corolla from the same year. Take the two cars and figure the same condition and miles. Now look at the resale value of them both after 10 or 15 years and there is very little difference. Yet the Lexus was more than double the price of the Corolla new. Same for a 2010 Cadillac DTS vs. a 2010 Chevrolet Cruze. You want luxury, you’re going to pay for it.

  4. This forum is amazing and there is a lot of useful content here. Companies can use this content to further improve the quality of disposable nitrile gloves although they have not received any complaints about them yet. However, there is still room for improvement.
