How To Customize GMC Infotainment Using The myGMC Mobile App: Video

Making the most of the infotainment system onboard your GMC vehicle means leveraging all the different customization options available. Now, we’re taking a look at how to customize the GMC infotainment system using myGMC mobile app and a smartphone.

To customize your GMC infotainment system, first download the myGMC mobile app onto a compatible device, which includes iPhone, Android, or Apple Watch. Then, sign into the myGMC app using your username and password. If you sign in using an email registered with OnStar, you will be able to link your account, and have access to the connected features offered through the app.

With the myGMC app open, and scroll down to the “Remote Personalization: In-Vehicle Apps” option. This option includes a small icon with two horizontal lines, one above the other.

With this option selected, users will have a choice between two buttons – Apps, and Favorites.

Hitting the Apps button will open up a list of apps available for the GMC infotainment dashboard. Select which apps you want to see by hitting the relevant toggle. Alternatively, use the toggle to deselect the apps you don’t want. Once all the apps you want are selected (and undesired apps are unselected), hit the Save Changes button.

The Favorites button allows users to customize their audio selections. The process for this is identical to the apps selection already outlined, with toggles for the list of favorite stations desired. Once the desired apps have been selected, hit the Done button.

That’s it. With the changes made using the myGMC app, users can see the changes reflected in their vehicle by starting the car and logging into their personal profile. From there, all the selected apps will be viewable in the GMC infotainment screen.

Check out the brief instructional video below for an overview of this process.

    1. In typical GM fashion, the useless is sold as useful.

They need to allow customization of the task bar area. Having a camera icon right at your fingertips would be a giant help.

  4. Strange I don’t have this fancy full colour app selection screen on my phone.
Is that an option too like everything else useful?
I only can open the usual plain Jane screen with the Remote function right down to Dealer appointment which the Service Department never receive, and even scold me for not having phoned before! So I waste my day waiting for a “hole”.
I forgot to mention…I live in Canada. Maybe that’s why I don’t deserve the fancier GMC app?

    1. Here I am almost a year later and still no access to the steps for updating my almost useless infotainment system via my cellphone. The how-to video here on this blogue doesn’t apply for Quebecers I guess. Too bad…my Terrain is a good car. I’m glad I leased it so I’ve only got 7 months left before I lease a Camry.

  5. Who the hell sells a car (2019 Terrain SLE) and doesn’t give it Sirius XM radio? Oh yeah, wait….it’s GMC! Even my base Hyundai Tucson came with it. So much for your infotainment nonsense.

  10. Are there any upcoming changes to the personalization section of the app that would allow for more useful functionality? For example, turning on the heated seats and steering wheel (in the winter) or ventilated seats, activation of defroster function (front and rear/side mirrors). , etc.????
