GMC Hummer EV3X Will Be More Powerful In Canada

The GMC Hummer EV3X will produce more power in Canada than it will in the United States.
While the Hummer EV3X will launch in the U.S. with a tri-motor powertrain producing 800 horsepower and 9,500 pound-feet of wheel torque, the exact same trim level will have the same 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet setup as the Edition 1 model will in the U.S.
This may seem a bit unfair for American buyers who splurged to get the pricy $112,595 Edition 1 model, but the Edition 1 is not available in Canada right now, so it seems GMC didn’t want to deny its Canadian buyers the ability to experience the impressive performance of the 1,000-horsepower powertrain. The Hummer EV3X trim in Canada will also have the same 350-mile/560-kilometer range as the Edition 1.
That said, the automaker confirmed to GM Authority that it still hasn’t decided if Canada will have access to the Edition 1. All reservation slots for the limited-production trim level have already been claimed, but GM is allowing customers to sign up for a waiting list to be contacted if a reservation holder backs out. Canadian buyers could presumably acquire an Edition 1 trim by putting their name on the waiting list or inquiring via a dealership if GM approves the vehicle for the Canadian market.
If Canada does get the Edition 1 trim level, it seems realistic to assume GM could match the EV3X trim level’s performance with the U.S.-spec model in order to help justify some of the added cost between an Edition 1 and EV3X.
If no one in Canada manages to get ahold of the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1, this likely means the battery-electric pickup won’t be available in the country until late 2022 as a 2023 model-year vehicle. The Edition 1 variant will enter production at GM’s Factory Zero plant (formerly Detroit-Hamtramck) in Metro Detroit late next year, but the EV3X will not join it until the fall of 2022. The dual-motor EV2X and EV2 models will not enter production until Spring 2023 and Spring 2024, respectively.
In addition to the 1,000-horsepower powertrain, the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 will also feature exclusive bronze wheels and trim and will come standard with front e-lockers, virtual rear lockers and underbody skid plates, among more.

Might want to take another crack at that. I know what you mean, but a few more words for clarity.. Maybe: “…the EV3X trim in Canada will have the same 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet setup as the Edition 1 model will in the U.S.”
A 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD equipped with a 6.6L Duramax turbo-diesel V8 engine will make 445 hp and 910 pound-feet of torque is priced at about $35K; while the GMC Hummer EV is faster off the line, no one buys a truck for acceleration as it’s all about how much work can it do.. and with a smallish 5-foot bed the Hummer EV isn’t very practical in the real world while the Silverado 2500HD is capable of doing much more at a third of the price of the Hummer.
You missed the point, and your duramax price is out to lunch
I’m not sure where you get the $35k. I just prices a single cab 2wd work trim 2500 truck, the absolute cheapest truck you can get with the 6.6 duramax and its MSRP is $45,685.00
No one buys a truck for acceleration? How about off-road prowess? GM is going to sell every one of these Hummers that they make.
“no one buys a truck for acceleration as it’s all about how much work can it do.”
Did you know horse power is a unit of power, which is the rate of work, and is a function of torque? So how much work a truck can do could be described as the amount of weight it can move over a distance over a time, or you guessed it, acceleration or velocity.
The Hummer also isn’t supposed to be a work truck. It’s purpose is a halo vehicle. A status vehicle. A performance luxury truck. A display of GMs battery and EV technology. A base model 2500 Duramax is supposed to get the crap kicked out of it and barely have power windows.
If I have to pay 112k for that truck, Top Level or not, I will get more out of it than just cruising down a Boulevard Strip and you can rest assure that it will get some Off-Road time out of also.
A chevy duramax 2500hd is more like 50-70k depending on trim level, maybe a reg cab wt duramax would be 40-45k . A gmc denali hd duramax is close to 80k
I personally would prefer a 2x with the Edition 1 battery. It would be more important for me to be able to drive 400+ miles on a charge than hit 60mph in 3 seconds while laying rubber… on $400+ tires. Here’s hoping that we get an EV2X-ER (extended range).
I highly highly disagree with what GM HAS DONE HERE. IM A LOYAL GM CUSTOMER AND OWNED OVER 20 NOW. I’m Canadian and am pissed we are getting the shaft on HUMMER trucks. We get ours a year later. I hate hate how they are staggering the models. The FIERCEST COMPETITION IS COMING REAL FAST AND GM IS REALLY DROPPING THE BALL HERE. GORGEOUS TRUCKS LIKE THESE ARE WHAT US CUSTOMERS WANT
