GMC Hummer EV To Be Revealed During Game 1 Of MLB World Series

The GMC Hummer EV all-electric pickup truck will make its debut during a commercial break for Game 1 of the MLB World Series on October 20th.

According to Automotive News, the highly anticipated battery-electric pickup truck will be shown for the first time during coverage of the championship baseball game. In a statement, GMC marketing vice president Phil Brooks said the automaker expects the reveal to be one of the automaker’s biggest to date.

“We cannot wait to finally reveal the GMC Hummer EV,” Brooks said this week. “We are leaving no stone unturned on reveal day. In terms of audience reach, we anticipate this will be one of the brand’s most ambitious stand-alone campaigns ever.”

GMC Hummer EV teaser

The GMC Hummer EV reveal is scheduled for October 20th at 8 p.m. ET. In addition to the World Series appearance, the vehicle will also simultaneously debut during coverage of NBC’s The Voice. Fans will be able to stream the debut event via the automaker’s YouTube and social pages at this time, as well. A GMC spokesperson told The Detroit News this week that the debut event will include a short film that will be “visible simultaneously,” across the various platforms.

The GMC Hummer EV will ride on GM’s new dedicated BT1 electric vehicle platform. The vehicle is expected to debut as a four-door pickup truck, although an SUV variant will join the range at a later date. The vehicle will be available with one, two or three electric motors and will utilize GM’s new Ultium lithium-ion battery pack. Certain versions will produce over 1,000 horsepower and will be able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in three seconds flat. The truck, which will feature 800V battery packs with 350 kWh fast charging capability, should have a real-world range of around 400 miles when properly equipped.

GM has already confirmed the GMC Hummer EV will feature the next-generation of its Super Cruise hands-free driving system, along with an Open Air Infinity Roof, Modular Sky Panels, Ultra Vision Cameras and an innovative Crab Mode four-wheel steering system, as well.

  1. Really looks more like a modern version of the Hummer H2 SUT than anything else?
By comparison, Ford says the electric F-150 will be like a typical F-150 “truck”.

    1. The electric F-150 does sound interesting. Especially if they are actually going to offer a range extender.

I’d expect the Hummer to have better electric range though.

      1. The GMC electric Hummer will have better range but will cost much more than the Ford electric F-150. The Hummer is a sports truck while the F-150 is a work truck. Ford did patent a portable (shaped like a tool box) and removable gasoline generator unit as a range extender for the electric F-150. This will convert the F-150 from a BEV to an EREV, as was the Chevy Volt and Cadillac ELR.

  2. Reveal it during the football game instead, then it will be seen.

    1. Right! So, I’ll see it the next day, here! -I’m not going to sit through a stinkin’ slow and boring COVID game for a 15 second clip, I’m just not! That’s stupid.

  3. Call it a cross between the H2, H3 and Avalanche. It has the general appearance of the H2, is sized closer to the H3T, and has the integrated cab and bed setup of the Avalanche, with those C pillar sails.

It won’t look so bloated like the H2 SUT did…it’ll be more proportional to the platform for a cleaner look, like the H3T.

  4. The Silhouette of the truck reminds me of the Chevrolet Avalanche.

  5. Yeah, bet baseball viewership is dismal at best.
