General Motors is poised to unveil the all-new GMC Hummer EV Sport Utility Truck (SUT) in just a few a few hours’ time, and GM Authority is the place to watch the live debut as it happens. Now, with the new Hummer reveal looming, GM stock prices are up 6.75 percent to $35.60 per share in day trading ahead of the debut.
Suffice to say, the new GMC Hummer EV is a critical reveal for the automaker. The truck relaunches the Hummer brand as an all-new, all-electric vehicle packed with technology and performance, taking on the likes of Rivian and Tesla. The new GMC Hummer EV will also challenge Nikola, in which GM is now an investor/part owner.
Reimagining the Hummer nameplate as a battery-powered electric is ambitious, but General Motors is backing the model’s debut with a major new ad campaign to shift consumer perceptions, focusing on technology, innovations, and zero local emissions.
What’s more, the all-new GMC Hummer EV will be the first GM electric vehicle to go into production with the company’s latest Ultium battery technology. GM unveiled the Ultium lithium-ion battery technology in March at the GM EV Day press event in Michigan, with plans to equip the technology in additional future GM EV vehicles like the forthcoming Cadillac Lyriq crossover. The new Hummer will ride on GM’s dedicated BT1 electric vehicle platform.
Specs are nothing short of extraordinary, with range-topping miles packing three electric motors and producing more than 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, sprinting to 60 mph in just three seconds. Single-motor and dual-motor powertrains will be offered as well.
Pricing information is currently unavailable, but is expected to start at $60,000. Reservations are $100. The first units will arrive in the fall of 2021, with production taking place at the GM Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant in Michigan.
The new GMC Hummer EV is part of General Motors’ push to introduce “at least” 20 new electric vehicles globally by 2023, as well as a massive investment into all-electric vehicle technology and development.
Make sure to stay tuned as GM Authority covers the reveal of the all-new GMC Hummer EV live, as it happens, and don’t forget to subscribe to GM Authority for more GMC Hummer news, GMC news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.

This BEV will have the same fatal flaw as TESLA.
Here is a trivia question for all you master debaters:
How much higher are your odds of dying in a big TESLA than in a big ICE BENZ?
A. 200%
B. 1000%
C. 5000%
D. MORE THAN 10,000%
Yang can’t do the math, but here is a hint:
US Fatality Rate for a 2012 and newer TESLA Model S and Model X: ONE A WEEK
US Fatality Rate for a 2012 and newer Mercedes S-Class and GLs: ZERO A YEAR
But this is not the fatal flaw….this is still good news compared to what the bad news about BEVs is.
In other news, a recent study indicated that breast cancer rates among male power line workers was 1 in a 100.
Normally, it’s about 1 in a 100,000.
Yeah, it’s bad. Good luck with those 500 HP electric motors spinning at 10,000 RPMs.
You know, as an engineer, I took an oath to protect human life. Looks like ASME members got a waiver. I hope you all get cancer…you deserve it.
If you’re analogy about the power line workers is meant to say electricity causes cancer wow man what sort of tin hat do you wear? The workers are exposed to all sorts of chemicals on the lines and equipment and also probably chew tobacco
I congratulate GM for moving into this field. As a life long GM driver, I have been frustrated to watch as others define what the future of transportation will look like, and this is a strong statement that GM is moving into this new market boldly with a decidedly GM vehicle.
Great to see GM coming out with new vehicles instead of filling orders of 8-14 months on corvettes my order is 8 1/2 months old it feels as far away as it did in February when ordered
