GM Introduces All-New 2021 Cadillac Escalade In Mexico

Just as 2021 Cadillac Escalade production is getting under way in the United States, General Motors has introduced the next-generation iconic luxury SUV in Mexico – the second foreign country to receive the redesigned model after Canada. On the evening of October 7th, the company hosted the virtual launch of the fifth-generation Escalade while announcing that it will reach the Mexican market in November.

Based on the GM T1 platform that also underpins the automaker’s latest generation of full-size pickup trucks and SUVs, the 2021 Cadillac Escalade was completely redesigned and will arrive in Mexico to further raise the bar in the premium luxury utility vehicle segment. The all-new Escalade introduces industry-first technologies, was designed using Cadillac’s new design language and features an unprecedented level of exclusivity in the nameplate’s history.

“We are very excited to announce the arrival of the new-generation Escalade to Mexico, as it incorporates the cutting-edge technology, luxury and comfort characteristics of Cadillac, placing it once again as a benchmark in its segment,” said Marketing Manager for Cadillac at GM Mexico, Yammil Guaida, in a press release. “When driving an Escalade, Cadillac customers will have a unique experience that elevates the extraordinary,” he added.

Although it will continue to be offered in both regular- and extended-wheelbase variants, during the first stage of the 2021 Cadillac Escalade’s launch, only the Premium Luxury trim level will be available in the Mexican market, which is distinguished by the jewel-like geometric grille pattern, chrome accenting and high level of standard equipment. In addition, the 6.2L L87 V8 engine mated to GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission will be the only powertrain option.

One of the significant new features of the next-generation Escalade is the industry-first curved OLED screen, which offers a 38.3-inch diagonal high-resolution display for the infotainment system and the instrument panel, with the twice the pixel count of a 4K television. It also incorporates a suite of advanced technologies such as augmented reality navigation and an AKG Studio surround sound system with 36 speakers.

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade will be available in Mexico starting in mid-November, with plenty of class-leading active safety and connectivity features. Mexican customers will be able to choose the new Escalade in a range of eight exterior colors and three different interior design combinations. GM has announced four versions, which are priced as follows:

  • Escalade Premium Luxury: 2,069,900 MXN (about $96,605 USD at the current exchange rate)
  • Escalade Premium Luxury+: 2,109,900 MXN ($98,480 USD)
  • Escalade ESV Premium Luxury: 2,189,900 MXN ($102,205 USD)
  • Escalade ESV Premium Luxury+: 2,229,900 MXN ($104,065 USD)

  1. I just talked a friend of mine into a Fully loaded Sport edition Escalade. He ordered it just the way he wanted it and it was $117,000. Will be coming in two-three months per the Dealership.
He has had multiple Mercedes vehicles and to his credit always amused me and looked at a Cadillac prior to ordering his Mercedes. What changed his mind this time around….it was the Interior.
He always laughed at Cadillac interiors but he said that the Escalade interior is fantastic and finally loaded up with Tech and high end materials. Let this be a lesson GM….It is always about Interiors, interiors, interiors and Tech in todays Market.

    1. Although I agree, I sometimes feel that GM gets knocked on interiors when others don’t. For example Corvette vs Porsche, the Porsche finished higher in interior, when it had a plastic dash.
That being said, the interior in the new GM pickups is completely underwhelming. And that is being extremely polite.

  5. The current Escalade body design was introduced in 2015 and GM has made small changes through 2020. Now the new 2021 is headed for the dealerships. The new interior, 10 speed trans, independent rear end, OLED 4K Dash panels, air ride, are nice touches. But, here are (in my opinion) some things that GM got wrong. GM received feedback from Escalade owners. Said they loved the vertical taillights and headlamps. Engineering kept the taillights but changed the headlights to horizontal small ‘cats eyes”, which I bet are not as bright as the vertical six panel headlights. Last but not least, GM engineers must has as usual ran out of money by the time they reached the rear. Case in point, they still have those ugly 1980 telephone bungee cords hanging from the rear window for the rear window defroster. Simple fix with wired hinges. (100K) really?
