Custom cars with a lowered ride height typically sacrifice comfort and drivability in the name of style. Not so with this 1972 Chevy Blazer. Offered by Volo Auto Sales in Illinois, this Blazer actually rides and handles “great” according to Volo head honcho, Jay Grams.
“Unexpectedly, this [Chevy Blazer] became one of my most favorite vehicles we have here right now,” Grams confesses. “It’s when I took it out and drove it all afternoon is when I really fell in love with it.”
Let’s start with the exterior, where the two-door Chevy Blazer is covered in glossy Ochre paint, a hue that just so happens to be the SUV’s original paint color. The panels are straight and true, while the white top is easily removed for some fun-in-the-sun motoring. The exterior also sports new emblems, marker lights, and door handles, as well as new weather stripping and seals. In the corners, those polished wheels measure in at 22 inches in diameter.
The cabin space is covered in white houndstooth upholstery, including the two bucket seats in front, and the rear bench. New sound deadening under the carpet keeps it quiet and comfortable, while black leather wraps the three-spoke steering wheel. There’s also a set of Cobalt gauges and an oversized tachometer on the dash.
This custom ‘72 Chevy Blazer is a looker, to be sure, but it’s also got plenty of go thanks to the 6.0L V8 LS engine, which produces more than 600 ponies with help from a Novi 1200 Paxton supercharger, Vortec air-to-water intercooler, Vibrant Performance intake, and Flowmaster exhaust system. The ‘eight mates to a 4L60E automatic transmission with overdrive and Lokar floor shifter.
And of course, this Chevy Blazer is obviously lowered as well, with new ball joints, a heavy-duty sway bar, and custom springs and shocks bringing it closer to the pavement without killing the ride or the handling. Power steering and front disc brakes round it out.
“Of all the cars I drove this past summer this is definitely one of my favorites,” Grams says.
Now, this custom 1972 Chevy Blazer is listed for sale at $58,998.
