The 2021 GMC Yukon ushers in a complete overhaul for the full-size SUV nameplate, introducing an all-new fifth generation. With the launch of this next-gen model comes a long list of updates, changes, and upgrades, including the latest safety technology features with the GMC Pro Safety and GMC Pro Safety Plus packages. As GM Authority has covered previously, GMC Pro Safety rebrands and revises GMC’s safety tech offerings into two comprehensive packages, and now, we’re taking a look at how they compare to the safety tech offered on the preceding 2020 GMC Yukon.
The 2021 GMC Yukon and 2021 GMC Yukon XL are among the first GMC models to offer the GMC Pro Safety and GMC Pro Safety Plus packages, joining the 2021 GMC Terrain and 2021 GMC Acadia, as we’ve covered previously. Meanwhile, the GMC Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD, GMC Canyon, and GMC Savana do not offer these packages, but it’s believed GMC will add GMC Pro Safety and GMC Pro Safety Plus across the lineup sometime in the future.

According to the tables seen here, the 2021 GMC Yukon offers slightly less availability for Adaptive Cruise Control, but greater availability for a number of other features, including Following Distance Indicator, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, and Front Pedestrian Braking.

What is the tow capacity on the 2021 Yukon xl
They should offer all the SAFTEY features across the board at NO COST. Although a high percentage of people turn them off. Cause they are not “good enough” yet
How come the 2021 Denali Sierra 2500HD does not come with active cruise control? Ford has it. It seems it has all the parts needed. Is this something that will be “turned-on” at a later date on the 2021 model or will it only become available in later year models?
I won’t buy a vehicle without adaptive cruise control. Have used it on my cars for last 5 years,
Automatic parking assist is also useful and should be included.
Why doesnt the Yukon have automatic park assist but its smaller cousins do? Tech doesnt work on such a big vehicle where it is needed the most!
Will the Traverse in the future have HUD installed? It seems that this is missing. Most SUV’s have it included for the price.

GM might have lost a customer with no Adaptive Cruise Control on the SLT. In 2015 we waited two extra months to get an SLT with adaptive cruise.
I’m not getting a vehicle in 2021 without it and I’m not coughing up 15-20k extra for the Denali either.
No option for adaptive Cruise Control in the 2021 AT4 is a joke. Will look for different brand because of this.
No Adaptive Cruise Control on the GMC HD trucks as well. My 2017 Ford F-350 Platinum had it so why can’t GM catch up.
Ordered a new 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali with all the bells and whistles and cameras, and it is not available.
I suggested GM contact Ford for some tips as to how to put it into their HD line.
GM lives 5 years in the past compared to Ford on these technical innovations and niceities on trucks.
Only reason I switched back to GMC from the Ford is we also have a Yukon Denali and the location of the controls are different, so I was always looking in the wrong place for buttons. The 2017 F-350 had so many other nice features than what I am getting in the new GMC truck for basically the same pricing.
I suppose they will come out with it next year just because I bought a new truck this year.
