The 2022 GMC Hummer EV is a lifestyle pickup truck that many buyers will likely use as an everyday family vehicle. As such, the truck has a cabin capable of accommodating five adults, but how does the truck’s interior space compare with other similarly sized pickup trucks?
As we can see in the helpful chart embedded below, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV pickup has a total front headroom of 42.5 inches, front legroom of 45.6 inches, front shoulder room of 63.9 inches and front hip room of 60.5 inches. A GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab, by comparison, has 43 inches of front headroom, 44.5 inches of front legroom, 66 inches of front shoulder room and 61.2 inches of front hip room. The Sierra has a bit more room to move about in the front, it seems, though the Hummer EV benefits from a little additional legroom.
Edition 1 interior dimensions | in. / mm |
---|---|
Front headroom | 42.5 / 1,079 |
Rear headroom | 38.6 / 980 |
Front legroom | 45.6 / 1,158 |
Rear legroom | 38.9 / 988 |
Front shoulder room | 63.9 / 1,623 |
Rear shoulder room | 64.0 / 1,625 |
Front hip room | 60.5 / 1,536 |
Rear hip room | 60.3 / 1,531 |
Meanwhile, rear-seat passengers of the 2022 GMC Hummer EV have 38.6 inches of headroom, 38.9 inches of legroom, 64 inches of shoulder room and 60.3 inches of hip room. The Sierra’s backseats have 39.9 inches of headroom, 35.2 inches of legroom, 64.9 inches of shoulder room and 60.2 inches of hip room. Legroom matters quite a bit when talking about rear-seat comfort, so these statistics are looking promising for the back seats of the new electric pickup.
It’s worth pointing out the GMC Hummer EV comes standard with an Infinity Roof and Sky Panels which, when removed, give front and rear-seat passengers virtually endless headroom when cruising on warmer days.
The GMC Hummer EV launched in Edition 1 trim, which features a luxurious, tech-laden interior with a 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch diagonal driver information center display. These screens will also use Google Infotainment Services with an embedded Google Assistant as well.
The first customer deliveries of the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 will commence next fall, with less expensive trim levels to follow thereafter. The battery-electric pickup, which rides on the automaker’s new BT1 electric truck platform, is available with two- or three-motor powertrains ranging in output from 625 to 1,000 horsepower.

Why are you not comparing the Hummer EV to both the Sierra double cab and the crew cab? The Hummer EV seams to fall in the middle between the two for headroom and legroom. Thanks
U have to be nuts to spend a 100,000.00 for a truck
That’s why squirrels will buy these like crazy!
Or squirrels will eat those who buy them 😉
If you tick a number of boxes you can get a Sierra Denali to sticker for nearly $80K. And people do pay that. I can price an Escalade to $120K. And arguably this Hummer will have more features in many respects.
i cant wait till they come with a 2500 HD version. wonder what i could pull with it?
It’s not so much WHAT you can pull with it … but HOW FAR you can pull it. TFL Truck did a test with a Tesla Model X on a “short” 60-ish mile, relatively flat loop towing it’s max 5,000 pounds. They started with a range of over 200 miles, and barely had enough charge by the time they returned to make it to the nearest charging station. I don’t think I’d be buying one of these for towing for sure! Now to take it off-roading … that’s what it’s designed for apparently, and I have a feeling it will be pretty good at it.
Model X Software and Battery Tech is completely different than say what they will use in The Cybertruck and the upcoming Semi Rig. And I am sure GM will do the same with Hummer, Silverado, and Sierra EV’s to say a Nox EV vehicle.
i have no idea why TFL or anyone for that matter keeps bringing up the 9 year Old Battery Tech that works just fine for Passenger vehicles like the Model X with these upcoming trucks. Even the Model 3 and Model Y have never Batteries let alone teh Cybertruck and Semi that were announced at Battery Day.
I would love to know how many people with a Model X tow anything HAHA
I could be off on the figure but only like 5 % of Truck owners tow more than 150 Miles on a single trip. Somewhere around there.
any idea about the bed size? dimensions? Thanks
It’s 5’ long and I believe 4’ between the wheel wells
thanks. i know about the 5′ long, just the other measurements did not read anywhere.
someone rated my question with thumb down lol.. its a question, not an opinion!!!! grow up.
