The 2022 GMC Hummer EV just dropped cover last night in a live-streaming debut event, ushering in a new chapter for the legendary nameplate as an all-new battery-powered off-road-capable supertruck. Naturally, a vehicle like this comes with all the tricks and tech that GMC can muster – including a standard MultiPro tailgate.
First introduced on the 2019 GMC Sierra, the MultiPro tailgate offers enhanced functionality and flexibility via six configurable positions. In addition to a Primary Gate that opens and closes in the traditional fashion, the MultiPro tailgate can also provide a Primary Gate Load Stop to prevent items from sliding out of the box, a Foldable Inner Gate for easy access to items in the bed, a Full-Width Step to easily climb in and out of the bed, an Inner Gate Load stop to prevent second-tier items from sliding out, and an Inner Gate Work Surface.
For a machine as versatile and capable as the 2022 GMC Hummer EV, the addition of the MultiPro tailgate as a standard feature makes a whole lot of sense. The MultiPro tailgate is so popular, General Motors is expanding the feature’s availability with the latest 2021 GMC Sierra, while also offering a Chevy-branded version for the Sierra’s corporate cousin, the Chevrolet Silverado, called Multi-Flex.
Check out GM Authority’s full list of 2022 GMC Hummer EV pricing and features availability for a more complete picture of what the new battery-powered off-roader has to offer. As a reminder, the new Hummer EV is currently available in four different trim levels, with either a two-motor powertrain, or a three-motor powertrain providing the motivation. Fast charge capabilities range between 400 volts and 800 volts. Output levels include 625 horsepower, 800 horsepower, and 1,000 horsepower, with 250 to 350 miles of range between plugs. All four trims also offer GMC ProGrade Trailering Technology.

Well, why didn’t you tell us it came with mulitpro tailgate standard in the first article? Now I’m embarrassed about my earlier comment about being way overpriced at $80,000-113,000!!
don;t look like it have middle drop gate like Chevy Avalanche and Cadillac EXT
it does not have a mid gate. The seats in the rear look to be bolted to back.
It does however have a power rear window that can go down.
H2 SUT also had a rear window that went down. The feeling of air rushing through the front windows and straight out the back was amazing, it needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated. Zero buffeting.
Is that a composite truck box – similar to Tacoma? Or traditional steel and spray-in bedliner?
Could be the CARBONPRO bed from GMC.
Show us how the MultiPro tailgate works!!!
