Details on the up-and-coming 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing continue to trickle in, providing tantalizing hints about what to expect from the two new super sedans. Among the most important details is the news that both Blackwing models are slated to go on sale in the summer of 2021.
Previous reports have indicated that the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing would hit dealers in the first half of the 2021 calendar year. Back in April, GM Authority covered the news that the launch of Caddy’s two new Blackwing sedans had been delayed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Both models were originally expected to launch late in the 2020 calendar year.
General Motors also confirmed that the new high-performance Cadillac sedans would use the Blackwing name, offering the “apex of Cadillac performance and driver engagement.” Caddy later provided us with a teaser of the new CT5-V Blackwing accelerating, giving us a taste of the blown V8’s aggressive exhaust note.
Subsequent spy photos revealed that the new CT5-V Blackwing would also come with a wild new 19-inch wheel package, which included a multi-spoke layout with a satin bronze color and finish. The new wheels were seen wrapped in Michelin Pilot tires, sized at 275/35ZR19 in front, and 305/30ZR19 in back.
August brought another new teaser, this time looking at the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing sport steering wheel, which included multi-function design with several buttons placed at thumb’s length, as well as a red top center mark. What’s more, the teaser came with a small Easter Egg suggesting that the more-powerful model of the two super sedans would top the 200-mph mark. A follow-up teaser in September included news that the four-doors would come with “racing-inspired, carbon fiber seats.”
Finally, just a few days ago, GM Authority reported that the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing would come with the option for forged magnesium wheels.

LOL. What a joke. This will be CT6: The Sequel.
By the time they launch the Blackwing, GM will be ready to kill off both CT4 and CT5.
I have lost all faith and respect for Cadillac. Only a year or two ago they were touting a new product every six months and I actually hoped they were getting their act together. They’ve totally blown it since then and I’ve lost all residual respect I had for this once great carmaker.
So they need to make the DTS or XTS again for your respect?.
Guestt,
I think you’re smart enough to understand the point I’m making. I’m not missing the XTS.
All the hype about an onslaught of new products created great anticipation amongst the long-suffering Cadillac faithful. Those products are now here (XT4, XT5, XT6) and have been disappointing and in the case of the much-needed flagship, the CT6, it’s already come and gone. The CT6 Blackwing came and went in a flash that happened so fast, the world never noticed. Now the also disappointing and slow selling CT4 and CT5 are finally here too and have performance variants coming that might raise their profile but they won’t arrive until 2022. I seriously question whether 2022 won’t be too late.
How are the XT#s disappointing if they selling as expected?. Don’t know where you get CT5 is selling slow, it already outsold several players including Genesis and CT6 sold slower in the US compared to over 20,000 last year in China. For flagships its already the Escalade then you’ll have the Lyriq and Celestiq. Now I get that a sport CUV and a US CT6 replacement is wanted, only time will tell will be offered but I’ll say yes to that.
Lame, Lame, Lame….should be on CF wheels….305 front and 315 rear and should be Michelin Pilot SC R’s……make a damn statement, your competition is….
I think if formula 1 teams use magnesium wheel and not the carbon fiber ones you would assume that those wheels are much more performance oriented. But of course ordinary consumers always go with the name without asking for substance like they drool over german car names and overpaying meh cars without looking better American ones, and i guess in this instance they would pooh pooh magnesium wheels and asking for carbon fiber ones just because carbon fiber name sounds more futuristic and cooler for them.
Otha, look like awesome cars but what’s the price?
Jonathan – The word is “champing,” not chomping at the bit.

Chomp, which began as a variant of champ, is alive in English while the biting-related sense of champ is dead outside this idiom, so it’s no wonder that chomping at the bit is about 20 times as common as champing at the bit.
So based on this I’m guessing a reveal sometime next month or january perhaps?
absoluetly stunning interior what they did to the Gen 4 V’s ! the sound is sick asf also has an option for manual ! i just hope it can actually rip from a dig cuz of rwd …. or is it ??? imagine its AWD :O
