2021 Chevy Trax Sport Edition Adds Stylish Black Accents

First introduced in the U.S. for the 2015 model year, the Chevy Trax received a selection of small changes and updates for the latest 2021 model year. Among these was the addition of the new Sport Edition package, which adds several stylish black accents to the 2021 Chevy Trax.

The 2021 Chevy Trax Sport Edition package is designed to enhance the look of the crossover by adding select bits and pieces to the exterior. Package content includes (RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • 18-inch Gloss Black Aluminum wheels (RSZ)
  • P215/55R18 all-season blackwall tires (RAK)
  • Front and rear Black skid plates
  • Front and rear Black bowtie badges
  • Black beltline moldings

Pricing for the package is listed at $470.

The 2021 Chevy Trax Sport Edition is only offered on the LT trim level, and requires the LT Convenience Package. To note, the LT Convenience Package includes a new key system with two spare keys, a six-way power driver seat, keyless open and start, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The 2021 Chevy Trax Sport Edition package is also unavailable with the Mosaic Black Metallic exterior paint color option (GB0), or the Redline Edition package (WBL).

The model featured in the pictures here is finished in Silver Ice Metallic paint.

The wheels included in the 2021 Chevy Trax Sport Edition package make a big difference in the way the crossover looks, with a split Y-spoke design that adds some serious attitude.

As a reminder, the 2021 Chevy Trax is only offered in the LS and the LT trim levels following the deletion of the Premier trim for the 2021 model year. The only powertrain on offer is the turbocharged 1.4L I4 LUV, which produces 138 horsepower at 4,900 rpm and 148 pound-feet of torque at 1,850 rpm, with the six-speed automatic MNK transmission on hand for transmission duties. Both FWD and AWD are available for the drivetrain.

The 2021 Chevy Trax rides on the GM Gamma II platform.

  1. The 2021 Chevrolet Trax Sport Edition reminds me of one of my nephews when they were young, the Trax Sport Edition is a cute little guy; but it’s difficult to not laugh in trying to consider it as being a tough SUV as it would be different if the Trax Sport Edition came with the Chevrolet 1.6L EcoTec 4-cylinder diesel engine making 137 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque.

  2. Just more matching black for the ugly black cladding!

    1. Sadly Martin, I must agree with you. Although I do feel it looks better than the standard trim.

  3. So this package isn’t really $470.00 because it requires the other package. But even with the two packages together, it’s still a very good value. However, I don’t think they should call it “Sport edition” package, but the “Sport Appearance package”. As Omegatalon stated above, there’s really nothing sport about it.

  4. Headline says,’Makes Trax pop’. If that look ‘Pops’ that is sad. Looks like a B&W photo.

  5. They’re serious about keeping the Trax around by adding a new sport(appearance) package. Buy what you can afford. Black is beautiful, haters are ugly.

  6. The Trax has been good looking ever since they refreshed it, but the engine should at minimum be the 1.4T DI from the Cruze with 152 hp/177 tq. It’s slow as a dog and desperately needs the extra ~30 lb-ft of torque.

  7. Chevrolet … how about for the first time give the Trax/Encore models a light weight towing package. Most owners of this class need around 1,500 pounds of towing capacity. The little Hyundai Venue is rated to tow up to 1,800 pounds. I work at a power equipment shop and a light trailer to haul a normal riding mower all together would come up to about 1,200 pounds. The need is there.
