2021 Cadillac CT5 Offers Sporty New V Performance Package

Caddy is offering up a new, optional upgrade for the 2021 Cadillac CT5 Sport called the V Performance Package. The new package includes select equipment plucked from the Cadillac CT5-V, adding a sharper edge to the CT5 Sport.

The new V Performance Package for the 2021 Cadillac CT5 Sport is tagged with RPO code Y43, and comes with the following content (RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 (F55)
  • Performance Suspension (FE3)
  • Mechanical Limited-Slip Differential (G80)

The 2021 Cadillac CT5 Sport V Performance Package requires the optional Brembo V Performance brakes (J56) and is only available on models with RWD. The package is not offered on CT5 Sport models equipped with AWD.

To note, Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 and the FE3 Performance suspension are both standard on the Cadillac CT5-V, as is the Electronic Limited-Slip Differential (G96).

The new V Performance Package helps to bridge the gap between the 2021 Cadillac CT5 Sport and the more aggressive Cadillac CT5-V, adding in key performance goodies for the less-powerful CT5 Sport for those buyers who don’t want to take the plunge with the full V-Series model.

The 2021 Cadillac CT5 Sport takes up an opposing branch in Cadillac’s Y-trim level strategy, sitting above the base Luxury trim level and adjacent to the Premium Luxury trim. In terms of aesthetics, the CT5 Sport comes standard with a unique front and rear fascia, 19-inch alloy wheels, and glossy black trim bits.

Under the hood, the Cadillac CT5 Sport comes standard with the turbocharged 2.0L LSY I4 engine, which makes 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Customers can also opt into the twin-turbo 3.0L LGY V6, which makes 335 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Stepping up to the current range-topper, the Cadillac CT5-V, nets 360 horsepower thanks to a more aggressive tune for the LGY V6 engine.

Further details on the CT5 Sport package, including pricing, are expected to become available in the next few months. In the meantime, subscribe to GM Authority for more Cadillac CT5 news, Cadillac news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.

  1. I wish they would bring back the twin turbo 3.6 engine from the old CTS V-Sport. 420 hp and 430 lb/ft of torque!

    1. I noted the Toyota-derived intake “gills” on the front. They are ugly on Toyotas and are equally ugly on a Cadillac.

  3. According to the Cadillac build and price CT5 sport not available with v6 twin turbo.

    1. That is my understanding. The 2020 sport only came with the 2.0, and I have not seen any announced change for 2021. Still seems odd that the sport version gets only a 4-cylinder, while the premium luxury can be had with a 6-cylinder. At least with these upgrades the sport is something more than an appearance package.

  4. I am not a mechanic or an engineer and if someone knows the why please fill me in…I cannot understand why customers are not allowed to get the MRC with AWD. Makes zero sense to me.

    1. Reading the vibration and surface of the road to select proper damping is just as important as the dampers themselves. MRC 4 uses high-rate accelerometers on each wheel. My understanding is the AWD front propeller shafts and CV joints add too much vibration to the front wheels and transmit vibration from the driveline, leaving the system without a clean measurement.

  5. “Rear-drive CT4-Vs get the latest Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 damping system, which now includes accelerometers mounted to each damper, but the space required for this extra equipment doesn’t package with all-wheel-drive, so our test car features new passive variable-damping shocks from ZF.” From Frank Markus’ Motor Trend review in April 2020.

  6. This should make even more sport minded Cadillac buyers quite happy. I would love to know just how many of them are out there. Problem is, the target audience Cadillac is and has been going after are usually MB, BMW and Audi loyalists or are people who normally will never consider a Cadillac no matter what. They already have the CT5 Sport, CT5-V and soon to be full on V-series. How many sport versions do they need to add? And yet, I was curious and went to build a CT4 and CT5 online last week. No matter what, you apparently can’t get wood trim in any model. One of the few things I currently find attractive with many of the import luxury brands is the wood trim they use inside. But with Cadillac, you get your choice of bland silverish plastic trim on the dash and doors. How sad.

  8. This is more V-Sport than being a true V and if Cadillac had some real guts, they would have installed Cadillac’s own LF4 which made 475 horsepower as the twin-turbo 3.0L LGY V6, which makes 335 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque is barely better than the LGX 3.6L DOHC-4v V6 and makes 335 horsepower @ 6800 rpm and 284 lbs-ft of torque at 5300 rpm.

  9. So hang on, didn’t Cadillac tell us that customers were getting too confused with V vs V-sport? So now that have a watered down V and a V Performance Package for non V cars?

How is that better than V-sport and V?
