2020 Chevy Silverado Medium Duty With Pickup Bed Up For Grabs At Auction

The Chevy Silverado Medium Duty truck line offers impressive capability to get the job done, providing a sturdy platform for up-fitters to add a variety of specialized components. These components can transform the MD Silverado into an ambulance, a dump truck, or a recreation vehicle. However, Medium Duty trucks like the 4500 are only available from the factory as a chassis cab – that is, with exposed frame rails behind the cabin to fit said specialized components. That means buyers looking for a 4500 with a standard pickup bed are out of luck – or at least they would be without custom creations like this.

Featured here is a one-off, custom-made 2020 Chevy Silverado Medium Duty 4500 4×4 with a bespoke rear bed. That means it has the same tall, MD truck styling and proportions as the standard 4500 Chassis Cab, plus the same powertrain and drivetrain, all of which are matched to a traditional rear bed setup.

As expected, this particular Chevy Silverado Medium Duty comes with a number of custom touches beyond the new bed section. These include a new underbody tool box that’s 36 inches deep and 24 inches wide, mounted on heavy-duty rollers. The exterior is also equipped with hand-built ground effects and running boards while a full folding bed cover keeps things secure in back.

In the corners, we find 22.5-inch wheels and wheel well lighting, while a heavy-duty trailer hitch was installed as well. The builders also added a custom 54-gallon fuel tank, upping total fuel capacity to an eye-widening 77 gallons. Inside, there’s hand-tooled leather upholstery for the seats.

Now, this custom 2020 Chevy Silverado Medium Duty 4500 pickup is up for grabs as Lot F132 at the Mecum Auctions Indy Fall Special event, slated to kick off tomorrow, October 29th, and running until October 31st. Just 600 miles show on the odometer.

  1. Bed should be a factory option.

    1. I told myself the same thing, when this truck was initially introduced, there was a Public Opinion Poll that was highly in favor for Silverado MD’s to be built with an optional bed that could be added to the truck, I guess GM wanted to see how well the market would hold up for these trucks before adding this feature option for non-fleet customers.

  3. It’s nice that GM standardized the cabs on these. Getting parts for Kodiaks can be tough.

  4. This should be a factory option if for no other reason than to compete with the Ford F450. This is a much better looking truck.

  5. Same here, I called Monroe Truck and asked if they had a bed for the new Silverado in the works, and the guy I was talking to said it would be several years before any outfitter would have anything like this. It was Monroe that provided the bed version for the Kodiak back when they were being produced. Great looking truck for sure!

  7. Yes one heck of a beauty 4 shure! Well back when l was selling & building trucks & cars, there were allways packages. Some were as is, some were have to get this which included things you might or might not want.
One could sometimes get around that. In the build sheet bible. Long waits on those builds.

  11. Lol, called Geico for a quote, which had to be Commercial.

With my decent Credit, Full Coverage would cost me:

    13,000$ a year.

And that’s EXPRESSLY stated this wouldn’t be a Work/Commercial Truck.

    Wow. Just Wow.
