Most folks who own large dogs like a Newfoundland drive pickup trucks or utilitarian SUVs, not a C8 Corvette, and it’s not hard to understand why. Not only are these vehicles large enough to accommodate a massive K-9 like a Newfoundland, but owners won’t be as concerned if the dog tracks mud or dirt into it, damages the upholstery or scratches a piece of trim.
The owners of Oakley, a Newfoundland that is a working therapy and water rescue dog, clearly trust that he will be on his best behavior when in the car. Oakley’s “pawrents” are the proud owners of a Sebring Orange Tintcoat 2020 Corvette Stingray and instead of banishing their big, furry friend from the expensive sports car, they happily take him for roofless rides in it and let the wind flow through his thick coat of fur.
Oakley is also the self-described “most active Newfoundland on Instagram,” so it goes without saying that he has a lot of fans that love to follow his various water rescue adventures. Some fans recently sent Oakley a pair of the new C8 Corvette scale models from Maisto as a thank you for sharing his day-to-day life with them, which he proudly posed with for a photograph.

Oakley’s owners refer to their C8 Corvette as the “Newfievette” due to his love for the bright orange sports car. Their Vette appears to be a handsomely equipped model with the Z51 performance package and Natural leather interior with perforated suede inserts. They also appear to have opted for the High Rear Wing Spoiler and the gloss black full-length dual racing stripes. Coincidentally, the Maisto Corvette models that Oakley’s fans gifted them also feature the full-length dual racing stripes, so they are almost an exact match to their actual C8 Corvette.

ANIMALS ARE GREAT
It’s funny that General Motors never called their Chevrolet Corvette convertible, the Corvette Spyder or the C8 Spyder like some European companies for the drop top version of their car.
Why would someone let a dog in or near a nice car?
