General Motors and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall for a small number of 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer and 2020 Buick Encore GX crossovers due to an issue with the front seat attachment bolts.
The problem: the recall notice indicates the rear attachment bolts of one or both front seats in affected vehicles may not have been installed at the factory.
The hazards: NHTSA cautions that “if an occupied front seat is missing the rear attachment bolts, it may move during a crash, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant.” The recall notice did not say if any injuries have been traced back to this issue.
The fix: GM will notify owners, who will be instructed to make an appointment with their dealership. The dealer will inspect seat attachments for both front seats and install attachment bolts as needed. These repairs will be done at no cost to the owner.
Affected vehicles:
- 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer
- 2020 Buick Encore GX
Affected components: rear seat attachment bolts.
Number of affected vehicles: 105
Owners should: GM will notify owners of affected vehicles and instruct them to make an appointment with their dealer. The recall is expected to begin on October 19th, 2020. If owners are unsure whether or not their vehicle is affected by this recall, they can visit my.gm.com/recalls and type in their VIN to see any open recalls or other actions that may be active on it. Only a small number of vehicles are affected by this recall (105) although both vehicles are still fairly new and thus still in relatively short supply.

Only 105? And how many of those may still be on dealer lots or in shipment? Heck, 105 cars recalled is what Toyota has by 9am every Monday!
“Affected components: rear seat attachment bolts.”
Shouldn’t that be front?
Please learn to read it’s the rear bolts for the front seats. Did you go to school?
