Production of the mildly refreshed 2021 Chevrolet Colorado kicked off at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri last June, as GM Authority was the first to report. However, a few of the pickup’s features were not available at the start of production, including the Sane Dune Metallic exterior paint option, a new color introduced for the 2021 model year and offered exclusively for the 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2 and ZR2 Bison. However, GM Authority has learned that this new hue is now available to order.
As uncovered by GM Authority, the new Sane Dune Metallic exterior paint option offered on the 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2 and ZR2 Bison became available to order earlier this month, despite production of the mildly refreshed 2021 Chevy Colorado kicking off in late June. As we reported previously, other options unavailable at the start of production included (but were not limited to) the 2.8L I4 LWN turbodiesel Duramax engine, and the Crush exterior color.
The latest 2021 Chevrolet Colorado, including the 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2, arrives with new model-specific front fascias, as well as a new tailgate treatment with the Chevrolet logo added in stamped script. The 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2 also comes with a special grille treatment that includes the Chevrolet logo lettered across the face, and a “flowtie” Chevy badge as well.
In addition to the Sand Dune Metallic and Crush exterior colors already mentioned, the 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2 is also offered in Satin Steel Metallic, Summit White, Black, Bright Blue Metallic, and Cherry Red Tintcoat.
Engine options for the 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2 include the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGZ, which produces 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, and the 2.8L I4 LWN turbodiesel Duramax mentioned previously, which produces 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Other trims in the 2021 Chevy Colorado lineup also offer the 2.5L I4 LCV, which produces 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque.

That’s a nice color. I love it when they make colors that don’t show dirt and dust that much. Those black trucks say ‘wash me’ a day after they’re washed.
I order the vehicles at my dealership and have noticed a color similar to this on Tacomas and Tundras. I considered trying out a Fleet paint color code for Doeskin on some trucks but I would have to order at least five to get it. I wasn’t that brave to try it :p
When off roading showing dirt is what it is all about.
Did not like this color at Toyota and not a fan here. But if it sells more truck spray it on.
Johnathan reports here that the Sand Dune Metallic color is exclusive for the ZR2, but Alex Luft said in the July 12, 2020 GM Authority that Sand Dune Metallic would be delayed on the Z71.
“While 2021 Chevrolet Colorado production is already underway, there will be a few features and options that will not be available at start of production. These items include (but are not limited to) the 2.8L I-4 LWN turbo-diesel Duramax engine, the Crush color (for all Colorado models) and the Sand Dune Metallic color (only for the Colorado Z71).”
Will it be available on the Z71?
Stay tuned for an update on that
The owner of Peak Suspension just took delivery of a Sand Dune Metallic ZR2, so I suspect it be a ZR2 specific color.
Lame unless there is a V8 option!
Isn’t this the color of our military vehicles in the Middle East ? Still waiting for a bright color that will stand out in a parking lot full of mostly grey and black vehicles.
Orange Crush and Blue Metallic will, and possibly Red Metallic.
Nice!
Bring it out across the lineup.
I really like this color a lot
Orange Crush is the colour to highlight this truck package…
