As GM Authority covered last week, GMC is transitioning its various safety tech features into new packages called GMC Pro Safety and GMC Pro Safety Plus. The new packages are more than just rebranding efforts – they also include new content and changes. The 2021 GMC Terrain will be among the first vehicles to benefit from these new safety technology packages, as outlined in the following GM Authority Comparison.
As GM Authority covered previously, the 2021 GMC Terrain will be one of the 2021 model year vehicles to offer the new GMC Pro Safety package and GMC Pro Safety Plus package, as will the new GMC Acadia, GMC Yukon, and GMC Yukon XL. That said, the GMC Sierra 1500, GMC Sierra HD, GMC Canyon, and GMC Savana do not offer either of the new safety packages, although the long-term plan is likely replacement and rebranding for the safety offerings across the entire GMC lineup in favor of the two new packages detailed here.
With that covered, let’s check out what the new packages have to offer, with a comparison between the previous 2020 GMC Terrain and the new 2021 GMC Terrain.

As we can see, the safety tech feature list gets a bit of a shakeup in terms of availability between the old packages and the new GMC Pro Safety packages. A few notable standouts include the addition of standard Adaptive Cruise Control with 2021 GMC Terrain Denali, and the deletion of both Automatic Parking assist and HD Surround Vision for the same model.

All of the features listed should be standard equipment in the 2021 GMC Terrain Denali with lesser models being able to get access to all of the features because each have the potential to be beneficial to young drivers.
you should be comparing these features to what the competitors are offering and at what price.
i’d bet anything they are offering more for less.
Too little, too late.
Honda, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota have most if not all of that standard. I don’t have to get the top end trim for adaptive cruise control. They ALL have it standard.
I wish GMC tried a little more.
I love how every time one of these articles comes up, people make completely FALSE claims. The Nissan Pathfinder does not have standard ACC, it requires a higher trim.

No front park assist and no surround vision are ” deal” breakers on a Denali. I guess I will keep my 2018.
All this will be changing with the 2022. This is just stripping down things for 2021. With refresh in 2022 new options will be added just like the new 2.0t engine. Also the competition does not offer any more unless you get the top model except maybe Nissan. Honda and toyota only offer most of the items on packages just like GM is doing.
Toyota and Honda have all or most all those options on all levels including entry level . Take another look
