General Motors has just officially launched the all-new 2021 GMC Yukon in Mexico, following the confirmation of the SUV’s arrival in the neighboring country back in March. During the launch event, the automaker said that the fifth-generation Yukon will go on sale in November in the Mexican market, strengthening its presence with the addition of the Yukon XL variant – available for the first time in Mexico.
The all-new 2021 GMC Yukon seeks to further consolidate its position as a high-end SUV in Mexico, offered exclusively in Denali trim to clearly differentiate itself from the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. As such, the new Yukon and Yukon XL Denali will seek to win over Mexican customers with their standard premium equipment list and an unprecedented level of exclusivity.
“The new generation of GMC Yukon reflects the Professional Grade status of the brand by incorporating the highest standards of precision, unique capabilities and cutting-edge technology together with an imposing design,” said GMC Marketing Manager at GM Mexico, Yammil Guaida, in a press release. “These attributes make it stand out in the segment by providing a premium driving experience,” I added.
For the first time in history, the 2021 GMC Yukon Denali not only differentiates itself from its corporate cousins by including a more sophisticated and distinctive exterior design, but also boasts a unique interior design with greater refinement and distinctive elements. In addition to a unique dashboard and genuine materials, the Yukon Denali has a class-exclusive power-sliding center console that enhances interior flexibility and storage organization.
The cockpit of the new 2021 GMC Yukon Denali emphasizes its premium focus with features such as nine different 360-degree camera views on the 10.2-inch touchscreen, huge 15-inch head-up display, GMC’s latest infotainment system, wireless phone charging, Bose hi-fi sound system, rear-seat entertainment system with two 12.6-inch screens and a large panoramic sunroof.
Mechanically, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL feature the 6.2L L87 V8 engine that develops 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, which is mated to GM’s new 10-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift technology. All-wheel drive is standard and, for the first time in its class, includes an Air Ride Adaptive Suspension that makes the SUV easier to access, increases ride comfort and raises ride height by up to an additional two inches.
The all-new 2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL Denali will be available in Mexico in early November, with a total of ten exterior color options and four interior combinations. Both models come standard with multiple safety-enhancing driver aids and the OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot with 12 months of free unlimited data. The suggested prices are as follows:
- Yukon Denali: 1,699,900 MXN (about $78,170 USD at the current exchange rate)
- Yukon XL Denali: 1,799,900 MXN ($82,775 USD)
