Certain 2020 Buick Encore GX owners are set to receive a relatively substantial reimbursement check from General Motors, GM Authority has learned.
According to documents seen by GM Authority, some 2020 Buick Encore GX owners were double charged for the remote vehicle start option at the time of vehicle purchase. Affected customers include those who purchased a 2020 Buick Encore GX equipped with the Cold Weather Comfort package (RPO code Y55) and the Sport Touring package (RPO code GFC).
Affected customers will be notified via a letter that they are eligible to receive a reimbursement check for the double charge. The check provided will be in the amount of $300.
In order to collect the reimbursement check, affected 2020 Buick Encore GX owners will be asked to contact their local dealer as soon as possible to begin the reimbursement process. Customers will be asked to provide the customer notification letter, as well as the vehicle registration and their driver’s license or state ID.
As a reminder, the 2020 Buick Encore GX Sport Touring package includes things like body-color rocker moldings, a custom grille with red accents, 18-inch wheels, new bumper accents and badging, and remote start, while the Cold Weather Comfort package includes a 10-way-adjustable power driver seat, heated front seats, three months of SiriusXM radio, and, like the Sport Touring Package, remote start.
Under the skin, the 2020 Buick Encore GX is based on the GM VSS-F vehicle set, with two engine options offered, including the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH, which produces 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, and the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T, which produces 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. The LIH connects to a CVT, whereas the L3T connects to a nine-speed automatic.
Indeed, anyone who purchased a new 2020 Buick Encore GX with the two packages listed above will be happy to know that GM has a somewhat hefty check waiting for them. No offense, but for me to consider that to be a “hefty” check, it would need at least one more zero!
It was probably a hefty cost for GM though.
No offense to GM but I bet five more years they will end up with 96 HP under the hood. I really think they should start hiring a few Engineers that understand engines
I have heard these have a major oil leak issue right now.
I looked at the Buick Encore GX when looking to buy a subcompact SUV. Overall I found it to be very nice until I pressed the start button. Didn’t have any confidence that the vibrating 3 cylinder would provide much reliability. I bought a Mazda CX-30 instead.
you bought a better looking car with a nicer interior and more horsepower for less???
are you out of your mind???
Brad, I can only hope your huge ugly black plastic trim on the door bottoms and around the wheels don’t fall off. Well, that and the many other issues Mazda is experiencing with the CX30 and Mazda 3. Get your recall list ready.
I highly doubt this Daewoo is going to do any better.
@julius it’s the natural trend towards lowering emissions seen in incentives, promotions, newer technologies, policies and legislation.
Nothing with a three cylinder engine should be called “Sport”.
But it’s a Buick “Sport Touring Package”. I think that just means it can haul golf clubs around Florida retirement communities.
Kinda the same reaction with the move from V8s to V6s. Many of the current V6s produce more HP than V8s of yore. It’s not how many cylinders, it’s how much power. The turbo 3s have comparable power to turbo 4s in this vehicle class.
Fair enough, when you confine your criteria to power. A 3 CAN have similar power output to a 4. More boost, larger displacement, tuning, can all make up for the lack of a lung. But if you include noise, vibration, drivability, low-end torque, the 3’s are at a disadvantage. From a fuel consumption perspective, both can be built to a price point with adequate performance, but the 4 will be a more pleasing drive. For an entry-level “sport touring” car, I think the 3 undershoots the mark.
Good luck getting the dealer to process the refund request. I have been waiting over 6 months for my GM dealer to process my state mandated partial refund of the GAP insurance policy I purchased when I bought my car and then paid off early. They owe me $30 and can’t even get it done despite sending all necessary documents from the bank and GAP policy company literally telling the dealer to issue the partial refund.
Does anyone know who makes the CVT transmission for the Encore GX? If it is made by the same company that makes it for Nissan I will never buy one. From what I have read those CVTs in the Nissan are a piece of junk. Now what is about oil leaks? The Encore GX has 3 cylinders? What ? The last Buick that had a 3 cylinder was probably built back in the 1930’s. I see that the current smaller Encore is going to leave. I base this on the culling of trim models and a paucity of available paint colors. I had read that they are pretty reliable so perhaps I will consider a certified one in another year or two I am all for the environment but using a 3 cylinder and a CVT which gives an extra i mpg and for what? Maybe instead of all that fancy interconnecting Wi-Fi crap GM should pay more attention to the power train combos.
Just a comment on reliability. I have the 2020 encore GX sports for one year now and not one issue has popped up. The engine, three cylinder is working well, has a lot of pick up and go and I would be very depressed if I had issues with his new engine but I don’t. Just a heads up
Is it expensive to have an automatic hatch opener installed in our 2020 Buick Encore Gx
