Back in June, event organizers announced that the annual Woodward Dream Cruise would be cancelled for 2020, citing public health concerns resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, despite the risks, the Oakland County Republican Party (OCRP) has announced that it will host its own classic car cruise at the same time and location as the now-canceled Woodward Dream Cruise event.
“With the traditional Dream Cruise canceled due to our current situation, we felt the road was wide open for OCRP to host our own MAGA Classic Car Cruise,” said Chairman of the OCRP, Rocky Raczkowski. “Best of all, our MAGA Classic Car event will run right on Woodward Avenue, the traditional route for cruisers. MAGA Classic Car Cruisers are welcome to drive the public highway loop as often as they like.”
The annual Woodward Dream Cruise attracts upwards 1.5 million people to Oakland County, Michigan, every year, with around 40,000 vehicles in attendance. The annual Cruise typically runs a loop down Woodward between Ferndale and Pontiac. Customs, muscle cars, street rods, and collector cars are among the most popular vehicles in attendance.
Meanwhile, the MAGA Classic Car Cruise asks participants to display American and Trump flags, as well as decorate their vehicles with “respectful” signs that support President Trump and the police.
“Remember to stay in your vehicle and practice safe distancing protocols, as we have all been reminded by the Governor,” Raczkowski said. “Cars should be filled only with members of your immediate family to avoid the mask requirement. No carpooling since gas is cheap!”
The event listing on Facebook also suggest stopping by the Oakland County Republican Party Headquarters for a free Trump lawn sign, and suggests bringing lawn chairs to watch along Woodward Avenue.
Numerous automotive events have been canceled in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic this year. Just a few examples include the 2020 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, as well as debut of the all-new Cadillac Lyriq EV crossover, the latter of which was rescheduled as an online-only event for August 6th, 2020.
Another event, the Woodward Dream Show, was also announced as a possible alternative to the canceled 2020 Woodward Dream Cruise. The Dream Show is invite-only, but will include a free livestream for anyone who wants to watch via the Internet.

The cruise may be “canceled” officially, but people are going on the day regardless. That has been the theme with several other cruises in the area.
No one is even going to pay attention to the clown parade of MAGA losers.
I would love to go to this. The only reason I don’t is that I will not cross the state line into Communist held California. Have fun everyone and watch out for the Asses.
??! To get to Michigan?
IMHO, “officially” adding a political spin to this, regardless of party affiliation, is a major mistake…has the real potential for some serious crowd trouble. Just watch…
But it’s ok for professional sports? Hmmm
Since the MAGAs want to be racist as the 50’s and 60’s makes sense to drive vehicles from that era……😁
What is racist about it? Is it because if someone doesn’t take your side.
Republicans are desperate they will do anything to be relevant and appease the “dictator wanna be” Trump
I love how Trumphumpers think only they are real American’s. The way they support the Russians these days, it’s hard to believe they ever loved America more than Putin.
So much for the Woodward Dream Cruise Cancelation and MAGA Classic Car Cruise Announced As Alternative. Come on folks, this is supposed to be about GM vehicles not racism and politics. Damn!
So much for enjoying a automotive site. Can’t enjoy anything anymore without racism or politics coming up!
