Titan Fuel Tanks Offers 56-Gallon Tank For Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD

Titan Fuel Tanks specializes in upsized, aftermarket fuel tanks for diesel-powered, mid-size and full-size pickup trucks. The company’s products are made in the United States from high-density polyethylene, which is the same material many OEM fuel tanks are made out of and is “durable, flexible and crack resistant,” the company says.

Among the products on offer in the Titan Fuel Tanks catalog are 56-gallon upsized fuel tanks for the 2017-2019 model-year Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD. Additionally, it recently added a 56-gallon tank for the newer 2020 model-year Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD as well. Both of these tanks are designed to fit the Silverado HD and Sierra HD Crew Cab with the short, 6.5-foot bed configuration and Duramax diesel engine.

“This new General Motors tank is made of our famous military grade, cross-linked polymer (XLHDPE). It’s at least ¼” thick and built to outlast all competitors,” Titan says on its website. “It’s tougher than steel and more durable than aluminum.”

Titan Fuel Tanks told GM Authority that “there are a couple of aftermarket tuners like EFI Live that can reflash the [Silverado HD and Sierra HD] ECU to our tank size.” This will ensure the vehicle’s computer knows it has been fitted with a larger fuel tank so it does not flash error messages or experience other calibration issues after the tank is installed.

A larger fuel tank can be helpful for those who frequently drive and/or tow over long distances, thus saving them time. Larger fuel tanks are also a popular upgrade for fleet trucks and fleet vehicles for the same reason.

  1. Now GM just needs to offer the 34 gallon tank (again) on the Silverado 1500.

    1. not going to happen with today’s shortbeds

  2. Why not just make this an option through GM when ordering the truck?

    1. Engineering cost vs demand. Fuel tanks are part of the emissions system, so they have to be tested new and subject to in-service monitoring. Safety is also a factor, they have to be crash tested to check against leaks and are subject to Pinto-type problems. These costs add up.

  3. Sure let me void my warranty to have 20 extra gallons.

    1. Doesn’t void your warranty. In fact many GM dealers install these tanks right at the dealership at the time of delivery.

Titan doesn’t mention a dealer adjusting it. They want you to have the aftermarket correct it which will void your warranty.

        1. Dealer installs as long as the manufacturer backs up the part (even reflashes, superchargers, etc) don’t void warranties. Know from experience….

          1. No, some dealers will sell/install parts/mods which are warranted by the dealer or a third party. Example: Rocky Ridge trucks.

            1. The rocky ridge people are in for a surprise. GM is voiding warranties If you recalibrate for larger tires. Looked into doing it on my 2020 3/4 ton. Any excuse to void it they want it.

              1. Rocky Ridge always voided warranties. GM would never have covered the suspension on a lifted truck. Rocky Ridge themselves offer a warranty that is intended to replace GM’s. That’s why dealers sold them (at a premium) over, say, a local off road shop or doing a lift themselves.
