Last month, General Motors kicked off its Chevrolet Open Road promotional sales event, which saw the automaker offer up to 15 percent cash back on select 2020 model-year Chevrolet vehicles for the duration of July. Now the automaker has decided to extend the promotion into August as it continues to try and recoup some sales lost during the COVID-19 shutdown earlier this year.
This month, the full 15% cash back offer is available on the 2020 Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Sonic, Chevrolet Equinox and Chevrolet Trax and, like last month, is not available with special financing, leases or other existing incentive offers. The offer is not available on the entry-level Chevrolet Equinox L, either, though it is available with all Chevrolet Spark, Sonic and Trax trim levels.
The Chevrolet Suburban, Colorado and Blazer also qualify for the Chevrolet Open Road cash back offer. Buyers can get 10% back on the Suburban and Colorado (excluding Colorado Base trim) and 12% back on the Blazer. Just like the 15% cash back offer, this deal is not available with special financing, leases or other existing incentive offers.
As we noted previously, GM’s Q2 sales were down 34% in the second quarter of 2020 due to various setbacks and challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. A 15% cash back offer is a rather significant incentive and should help GM get more traffic into dealerships for Q3, especially since it’s offered on popular products like the Equinox, Blazer, Colorado and Suburban. There are definitely some good deals to be had, as well. Under this offer, one could get up to $4,436 back on a Colorado ZR2 or $7,553 back on a 2020 Suburban Premier, for example.
It’s not clear if the Chevrolet Open Road sales event will continue into September, so those already in the market for a new Chevrolet may want to capitalize on the offer this month.
