According to the American Psychiatric Association, one in ten Americans have a phobia of some sort and of those, up to 40% are related to insects or other creepy critters such as mice, snakes and bats. We imagine a good deal of these folks are, more specifically speaking, arachnophobic – which is when one has an intense fear of spiders and other arachnids like scorpions.
It seems as though one driver’s intense fear of spiders may have been the cause of this crash involving a tenth-generation Chevrolet Impala and a small boat. The aftermath of the crash was captured on video by an onlooker and uploaded to YouTube with a brief yet telling description: “A spider landed in the lap of a driver and they drove into a boat at a yacht club.”
That’s right – all this carnage was all caused when the Chevrolet Impala driver got scared by a spider that landed in their lap. It’s not clear if the driver became distracted by the spider and drove off the road or if their sudden shock and surprise caused them to accidentally step on the gas while they were parked nearby, but one thing’s for certain: this was one rather expensive accident.
It’s also not clear if anyone was hurt in this crash. The boat does look as though it was docked at the time of the impact, though, so let’s just hope no one was on the boat at the time. There’s no word on the Impala driver, but we’d say they were quite lucky not to go off into the water. We’re not sure the boat owner feels quite as lucky, though.

It’s unbelievable how many GM vehicles crash, I wonder why that is?
What do you think Sam?
As I used to tell kids on the school bus when they’d see a small spider, who’s bigger you or the spider, always got the same answer, me, well then step on it. Law of the jungle works in that situation, if you’re bigger you win.
And that would be me! 🤣
