Here Are The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Interior Colors And Materials
The most expensive options include leather seats with custom quilting and a carbon fiber back panel.
Cadillac CT5 Sales Soar To Fourth In Segment During Q4 2020
A very favorable performance for the still-new model.
Weird front bumper, ugly rear quarter pillar looks more like a Chevy Cruze then a Cadillac.
Then there are the weird designed tailights. Rear seat legroom is ridiculous as is trunk space. CAN’T keep pace with the previous generation CTS. My 98 STS was a far better car as was my 2000 DTS. The only real Cadillac left is the Escalade. The XT4, XT5, and XT6 fail on so many fronts. The CT4 & CT5 are loosers.
The last of the Sedans XTS and CT6 were canceled as should the CT4 and CT5 should be. Also, drop this Alphanumeric Soup mix at Cadillac and go back to actual model names.
You cant compete on the world marketplace so stop failing.
I agree with the real names. I’m looking for a early 90’s fleetwood. Caddy when it was a caddy. I’d like to see Buick be the caddies from 70’s 80’s and 90’s. Built for comfort and unrivaled luxury interior appointments. But that’ll never happen
They just need to take Cadillac out in the woods, shoot it and bury it..Cheap WalMart interiors..My 2019 Chev Impala is better than this thing.
My preference is that they sell the brand off. It’s a great car brand with a glorious history and much of that could be leveraged for today in the same way BMW AG has done wonders for Rolls Royce and Volkswagen has reinvigorated Bentley. In both cases they’ve drawn from the respective brands’ past to include using names yesteryear and a focus on Old World luxury and presence.
General Motors has proven time and time again that they cannot manage a luxury car brand any more. They can’t even manage a premium brand like Buick as it’s become a joke too. I think that’s because the caliber of people running GM has declined over the last 40 years as the City of Detroit has also declined in terms of art, culture, and style. GM is run by sensible midwesterners like Kohl’s shopper Mary Barra that doesn’t understand the luxury market.
GM still does well with Chevrolet and what used to be called “the low-priced field”. Large SUVs are really their forte although they’re even losing ground now in full-sized trucks. But they have solid offerings in the entry level field and I think can do emerging market products pretty well. Luxury though, takes a whole different mindset and GM can’t really do that anymore.
My opinion is that Cadillac is on the path to extinction; to being Oldsmobiled. Their current EV scheme is not going to save them. Lyriq is not the change-the-world kind of product they need and it lacks sufficient style and elegance to be branded as a Cadillac.
I watched the Lyriq reveal and that solidified my opinion that the people in charge at GM are not luxury car people. GM needs to accept that they are a mass marketer of low and moderately priced cars and sell Cadillac to another automaker that can return it to its former glory.
Very well said – I’ve been thinking the same Cadillac brand “sell-off” thing for years.
100 thumbs down to that idea!
OK expert, GM clearly isn’t getting the job done, so what’s YOUR bright idea??
Fix what’s broken. Slicing up companies are what the idiots educated in US business schools love to do. What then after you do that? You have nothing left.
FIx what’s broken? Good luck with that – It was GM that “broke” it in the first place.
Ci2Eye is correct – General Motors no longer has a clue about building and maintaining a legitimate, world class luxury brand. If it did, Cadillac wouldn’t be in the mess it is now.
Doesn’t bode well that they are already giving a rebate on a Caddy sedan that has been in production only one year, virus or not. This is a segment for people with $.
70 Chevelle L34
This is not a segment for people with money.
OK maybe the segment is, but these Cadillacs are not !
These Cadillac vehicles are JUST THE SAME as the last 30 years of Cadillac vehicles !!!
These Cadillac vehicles are just cheap Chevrolet vehicles with a plastic Cadillac badge !!!
People with money, know the difference, and have moved to the vehicles form the competition that belong in the segment !
GM is simply to cheap to let it happen !
These vehicles should have had an interior like the new Escalade, then they would belong in the segment. After that GM needs to support them for 10 years before GM will get back to being able to be on the equal to the competition !
The new Lyriq will be no different here, it will take years !
GM has screwed up Cadillac so bad, nobody trusts them at all any longer, they are a joke to most luxury owners, except the Escalade ! Young people, old people, it does not matter. The value of this vehicle will show in itself, just like the GM trucks have. With the cheap GM interiors, the GM trucks are about three years old now and GM has 8 to 12 thousand on the hoods. These Cadillacs will be just like the last ones of the same thing with a different name, soon they will have 5 to 8 thousand on the hoods to just cover their costs, yet the V will help a little, yet that vehicle is like the Vette, it only attracts the same person back !
GM needs to get Cadillac out of this cheap, junk, low option, base, standard vehicle !
Agree with you somewhat, as I have never owned a Caddy. Have always been a Chevy man, many Chevelles, Camaros, Monte Carlo, Impala, with a couple of Olds in the day. Do remember the slogan that “Cadillac was the Standard of the World”. Also remember the competition commercial where the valet couldn’t tell any black FWD GM “large” luxury sedans apart. Was involved in a minor fender bender in my attorney’s new Cimaron (sp) on the way to court. Yeah, GM lost their way with Cadillac a long time ago.
Mary Bara loves the design! She says it reminds her of her lesbian aunts sweater.! I am glad Cadillac has become so inclusive, this wide mixture of people have made Cadillac the envy of the world.
Not the car that the previous two generations of CTS were. Baffling
Money, Money, Money, Money !!
GM is just to CHEAP !!!!
The CT5-V is a great car to drive. Styling always subjective but I like it. Had a gen 2 CTS that I loved too. They had almost 20 years of the art and science look so time for something new. Cadillac has the highest average age of any brand – somewhere between coma and life support. This new styling will appeal to a younger generation if nothing else.
Full GMinsidejackasses here, lol. No Cadillac failed because they were selling cheap POS to flyover losers and their sales shrank over the past 20 years. Full names?, shrank. Floating Florida suspensions?, Eldo-cheapo models? shrank…. Cadillac still outperform Lincoln with full names, “Amecan’t” luxury themes. Mad because some of you can’t hook the new Caddy’s, lol.
Guestt,
You’re correct but it wasn’t always that way. Cadillac was a highly regarded brand, truly seen as the pinnacle in America for many, many years. Cadillac was the favored brand of Hollywood’s elite and the affluent across the country. In the mid 1980s they converted their lineup to transverse-mounted engines and FWD, dramatically downsized them, and cheapened their appointments inside and out making them a caricature of their former selves. This put them on a 40 year sales slide that hasn’t abated since.
I’m not quite sure what you are saying Guestt ?
I AGREE Cadillac failed because they were SELLING ONLY Cheap POSs to flyover customers ! ( not quite sure why they are losers, they were BUYING Cadillacs )
I also I also AGREE with the rest of floaty, Eldo-cheapo, JUNK !
Here is where YOU can’t figure it out, or GM for that matter !
I’m not quit sure what you mean by ( mad you can’t hook ) Are you implying that Cadillacs are to expensive for some here to buy ?
Well you might be right if you are saying the Cadillacs of today are too expensive FOR WHAT YOU GET !!!!!
But I highly doubt its because they are too expensive !
The Cadillac of today, is still just the same old GM junk they have been trying to sell for the last 30 years ( a cheap Chevrolet with a Cadillac plastic sticker )
And I’m not sure why anyone would compare a Cadillac to a Lincoln ? Is that your measure of success ?
Look if Cadillac still sold the floaty Cadillac, those GM/Cadillac buyers would still be buying. Of course less and less as they are dying just like the Corvette guys ! Some have moved to the Escalade, yet most are sedan drivers. The Escalade is a cross animal, a good old reliable GM/Chevy Suburban yet some old school Cadillac style.
OK those are covered !
The rest of the Cadillac lineup is just cheap junk for the price ! If a POTENTIAL customer, not a GM customer per say, drives ALL of the competition available in the SAME options / price range, Cadillac is a loser !!
Maybe that’s the loser you are referring to ?
The Cadillac owners have NOT moved to Lincoln, they have moved to the foreign brands, because they are a better value for the price !!!
GM as a whole these days are yet again trying to cheapen their way to the top !! Or still !!!!
Even lust look at the NEW EV Cadillac Lyriq, GM is saying ” see this, this is what you might get, well close, like maybe 85% or so, yet don’t worry, it will be CHEAP as we will sell a CHEAP one that you CHEAP people can afford !!!
People are buying $80,000.00 trucks, People are buying $80,000.00 boats, sure I would love to buy a $60,000.00 or less Cadillac, if I was getting a Cadillac !!!
But I will no longer buy a $60,000.00 Cheap, stripped down version of a Cadillac, the competition has BETTER for LESS !!! STILL !!!!!
GM HAS to change SOMETHING here, with Cadillac ! Just start over, like they say, with the Lyriq, yet with the GM engrained cheapness !!
” O we will offer you this cheap dash cluster, yet the competition has offered the digital for years now !!, AND they haven’t failed like the Cadillac CUE cheap junk, with HORRIBLE customer response ! So now that Cadillac ( again, IS GOING TO OFFER, not yet, the digital dash cluster, its some how a great deal !! Its NOT a great deal, the competition has been doing it for years !!!
I think GM thinks like this :
OK lets start with a Cadillac that’s as good as the competition, that people can afford – the cheap, cheap, base, standard Cadillac !!! Its NOT the same as the standard base competition, it is still more money for less options ( a poor value )
And it just keeps moving up from there, always behind, always cheaper junk for the same or more money than the competition !!!
And lets top it off with HORRIBLE customer support – that will draw in the customers, the word of mouth of HORRIBLE customer support, nothing spreads like that !
Look at the ” Standard Safety ” Chevy story here today !
Even that is just GM being cheap, and NOW are trying to say ” See we offer standard safety ”
Others have been doing this for years, years, standard, fore less,
A better value AGAIN!!!
Didn’t want to read the entire novel because I don’t really respond to you but you one of main one’s buying $80k GM products and cry time after time. I’d taken my business to Ford sometimes if GM didn’t have the right vehicle at trade-in time, even if FCA have a car I want when new car time comes I’ll get it.
I love if GM launches blood pumping vehicles everytime but do it pay bills?, during GMs BK they had many exciting vehicles on sale and development that got cancelled. The SUVs and trucks carry the markets now also we’ll see what VSS-R and BEV2 have for a fun car but my main point is I don’t stick to one manufacturer.
Ha, Ha, Ha,
What, what did they have exciting that everyone wanted going into bankruptcy ?
NO the GM blood pumping vehicles do NOT pay the bills, but the lackluster every day BLAH vehicle did !
Yet when the average ” good Enough ” GM vehicles paid the bills they were better than the average competition, for the dollar !!
This hasn’t been so for as long as GM has struggled to survive ! Why is this not obvious to the GM management team?
GM has lost market share and INCOME for years as they sell down capital to survive. GM is now left with only the full sized lineup to pay the bills.
Guestt,
I love it how so many of you never read what I post yet continue to comment !!! You guys are a blast !
Also I do not cry and complain, I just state the facts as I was treated by the HORRIBLE GM customer support system, over the many, many, many, ” Known Faulty ” parts designed and sold by GM !
However I have never entered into a class action as others have, I just fix my GM ” Known Faulty ” junk and make others aware of this cheap junk ! If I move on to other brands entirely, you people here would say I am just a troll and do not know what I am talking about, so just to be able to tell you how cheap the interior is in my $80,000.00 GM truck, I feel I need to own one to give you my honest ownership opinion !
Yet anyone here can read, and see the hundreds and thousands of REAL GM customers who have just been treated like $hit by GM, and the Horrible customer service !
No, I think ill stay in this battle until GM fixes this, or just goes broke again !
And this new, OLD ALREADY, onslaught of GM/Cadillacs are STILL the SAME OLD Chevrolet, cheap junk Cadillacs !!!
And the sales prove this, in the whole lineup !
Its just more of the GM /Cadillac customer doing the same thing as always, very few new customers added to the mix !
The travers, and Equinox customers are just moving to the Blazer, like the XT5 people are moving to the XT6 and XT4 ! The Enclave customers just move up and down also, or over to the XT6, yet the net gain to GM is still BLAH, just like the products are !
And again don’t forget the horrible customer support provided by NOBODY !!
GuestT, LOL Trolling
Well maybe you should follow your namesake’s advice…….
Is that the best you can doo doo is KISS MY ARSE.
Edward M Pate,
100%
Fix what,s broken !!
What do you think the #1 thing is that’s broken ?
Ill keep it short. I think it is the lack of communication between GM ( someone who can and will do something ) and the customer, or potential customer !
GM is just making a million of the same thing but different and throwing it at the wall to see what sticks, and its costing them billions !
The customer is where the money comes from, not the stock holder !
If you make something a customer wants, and take care of it for them through communication, the customer will:
Advertise for you !
Invest in your stocks !
Does GM realize the class action law suits from the customer, over ” Known Faulty ” designs is costing them dearly !!!
I would think its like a virus, when one person is treated like that, they spread the word to 10 !
These comments are terrible. I guess the trolls show up here when they’re day drinking.
Geoff,
I know what a troll is.
I know what a hater is.
And there are some here on this site, and in the world.
However GM has a problem with potential customers !!!!
Just like the GM only lovers here, others come here and other sites to read and comment on the up and coming.
It does not make you a troll, when you give your opinion on the cheap junk GM is trying to sell as a Cadillac !
It is an opinion, and everybody in the world has one !
The GM trouble is, like you, and the GM dealers that comment here, you push away the very customer you need to survive !
When I was looking at HD trucks, after just 1year of owning my 2017 Denali, I called the GM dealership and asked some questions on the new 2020. I asked if the new ones would have rear air vents like my 07 and the Ford and the RAM, I was told, go buy a Ford or a RAM then, you will be back !
NO, NO most do NOT come back, and these days GM knows this !! Why do you think they are redesigning the trucks so fast ?
If you regular people here and at the GM dealerships, cant take constructive criticism, GM will never get better, Cadillac will fail yet again, or still like these new onslaught of cheap Chevy Cadillacs !
I realize you think these Cadillacs are ” Good Enough “, and maybe they are for you !
My question is, do you own one ? What was the last Cadillac you bought ? What of the competition out there have you driven to compare ? How many of the competitions real owners have you talked to about what its like to own the competition ?
These new Cadillacs can not even keep the Cadillac people in the GM dealerships, let alone draw new potential customers in !
Just like the 2020 truck interior, these Cadillacs have stayed the same or have gotten worse than the previous ones !
GM needs the Lyriq or Escalade interiors in these vehicles yesterday, and spend the money and put a window in the side of the back, Cheap , Cheap, Cheap !
