The latest sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro was introduced for the 2016 model year, with a refresh arriving for the 2019 model year, and a “refresh of a refresh” arriving for the following 2020 model year. Now, with the arrival of the 2021 Chevy Camaro, the iconic muscle car nameplate gets a few minor changes and updates, including two new exhaust tips as official accessories.
The new exhaust tips are offered as LPO-level items, which means they are produced by General Motors, and can be either ordered with the vehicle and installed by the dealer, or purchased post-sale as accessories.
The new tips include either a Black Chrome finish (RPO code VTA) with engraved Bow Tie emblems, or a Carbon Fiber finish (RPO code 5VF) with cutouts showing BowTie emblems on the top of the metal tip underneath the carbon. Installation is a simple bolt-on affair. The automaker even points out that the Black Chrome tips for the 2021 Chevy Camaro reduce exhaust tip temperatures by up to 100 degrees F.
The new exhaust tips are available for both the 2021 Chevy Camaro Coupe and Convertible, including every trim level with the exception of LT1 and ZL1.

Further changes for the 2021 Chevy Camaro include revisions to the exterior options, the addition of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and updates to the packages lineup.
As before, the 2021 Chevy Camaro rides on GM’s Alpha platform, and offers four engines – the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG, the 3.6L V6 LGX, the 6.2L V8 LT1, and the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4. Production will once again take place at the GM Lansing Grand River facility in Michigan.

Sadly, I am under the impression that this is only offered on the standard exhaust. During my configuration I was forced to remove these accessories if I wanted to opt for the dual-mode upgraded exhaust system. I would love to have quad-carbon or blacked out tips!
Wow finally! Exhaust tips! I’m gonna go down an buy me a camaro now. First thing I’m gonna do is check the exhaust tips option.. drive off the dealer lot. An order a full length exhaust system.. oh wait…my tips.
GM an camaro team.. if they could thing of something amazing an gaming changing like..orange or purple windshield wiper fluid as an option. Man that would bring massive sales! Might save the camaro.!
What a joke. Pathetic… everyone that draws a pay check under the Camaro brand needs to be fired
I think you’re truly a Mustang customer.
I had pretty much the same reaction as Brandon.
Exhaust tip options are not newsworthy.
I suppose it is better than “Some guy renders car GM will never build” though.
Not a mustang customer or ford in any aspect. But a concerned Camaro fan. I am a third gen camaro/firebird enthusiast. With hopes of one day GM with give us the same product as y’all first gen camaro guys have enjoyed these last 10 years. Is the main reason why sales have dropped off. That horse is dead now. For the second time..an exhaust tips are a far reach.. last month it was a color..really!! Scrap that body…its done. Give us a car that has windows in it for Christ sake..
Great news, this will save the Camaro!
Yippee! Exhaust tips!
You know, as I sit here and read this article, it makes me kind of sad to look at what has become of not only American Muscle, but just the auto industry in general. As it stands, Most of us who are muscle car enthusiast have watched over the past few years as our beloved cars have gone through some drastic changes. Some for the better and others for the worse, The second demise of the Camaro is close at hand and the Mustang has been turned into an electric RWD based Ford Escape and there is no telling how long Dodge can hold out with its awesomeness before it too becomes a shell of it’s current self. I am a fan of all three brands of American muscle but right now, I will keep my focus on General Motors. As I’ve said, the demise of the Camaro is getting very close and even though the Alpha chassis is absolutely amazing, it hasn’t been enough to keep the Camaro from it’s slow and untimely death. However, General motors affordable performance does not have to die with the Camaro. with Chevrolet basically axing all of its cars except the new C8 Corvette. the focus draws in on Crossovers and pickup trucks. Now truthfully I would love to see a Silverado SS with a 6.2L 495hp V8 under the hood with all of the things that would make it an SS but I’ll get to that in a few moments, The two vehicles I’m really going to focus in on are the Chevrolet Blazer and the Chevrolet Colorado.
The Chevy Blazer is a front wheel drive based crossover that takes alot of inspiration from the current Camaro both inside and out, including the 3.6l V6 heart that powers the vehicle. The thing is, this car does not need to go on the Alpha-2 platform, it can be all that it needs to be right where it is, just refreshed. taking this platform, GM could put a few different engines under the hood of this car, namely the 3.0L Twin turbo V6 and the 3.6L Twin turbo V6. It would not be the first time GM transversely mounted the 3.6L under the hood of a car as it was done when the twin turbo 3.6L first came out in the Cadillac XTS V-Sport a few years ago making 410hp. While that number sits fairly close to the current 3.0L TT V6, I’m sure GM could easily bump those numbers much higher to where the current 3.6L TT sits at 465hp/445tq, which aren’t extreme numbers for a FWD vehicle as there are currently factory vehicles that run over 400hp in FWD layouts. Where this high performance Blazer would truly shine would be in it’s drivetrain. There are FWD based AWD vehicles with rear biased AWD systems such as the upcoming Acura TLX. Coupling this engine with a Hybrid version of the upcoming FWD 7-speed DCT that is set up to send up to 80% of it’s power to the rear wheels via a GKN Twinster rear differential with a GKN E-Twinster front differential would give the second generation of this new blazer a much better feel. Adding in a double wishbone front and rear suspension with magnetic ride, a tuned chassis with performance front and rear sway bars and a few other things would give the crossover a very planted performance feel. The car definitely needs Brembo brakes and honestly, a set of ZL1-spec brakes would stop this vehicle nicely. As far as styling goes, the outside of the Blazer definitely has the Camaro feel but I would say for a performance version, wider fenders a front splitter, a vented hood, ZL1 style side splitters, a rear diffuser, an aggressive duckbill roof spoiler, and a new light treatment giving it more of the C8 Corvette styling would do the next gen blazer nicely. The Crossover should sit on the current ZL1 wheels wrapped in 285/30R20 front and 305/30R20 rear high performance all season tires. Inside, the Recaro seats from the CTS-V should be present with the SS logo stitched in them along with a more aggressive D-shaped steering wheel with leather and alcantara (heated and cooled) with large paddle shifters. Give the dash area around the cluster more of the current camaro shape and add leather and alcantara to the dash, headliner and center console (along with carbon fiber on the dash). The performance blazer should have heads up display, night vision detection, data logger and a high end Harman Kardon stereo with a 10.5″ infotainment screen (like what it has now, not the giant I-Pad). The Performance Blazer should come stock with an active valve exhaust system that can be controlled through the infotainment screen. Lastly, GM needs to offer GM Performance stage kits and factory performance upgrades like it used to do with the Cobalt SS and what it still somewhat does with the Camaro. tuned packages with intakes, turbo piping, injectors, flashed ECUs, larger intercoolers, catted downpipes, catback exhaust systems (here is where you can offer all of those fancy tips), suspension upgrades, graphics, interior and exterior lighting upgrades, etc. Also right below the 3.6L version should be a 3.0L twin turbo version with obviously a less aggressive wheel and tire package, smaller spoiler, different hood and all of that stuff but still performance oriented. That top notch 3.6L Blazer should bring back the Blazer Xtreme name while the 3.0L Twin Turbo Blazer would be the Blazer RST, which below that you could have the 2.7L Turbo Blazer RS with a bit of a power bump to maybe 350hp and then at the bottom have the 2.0L Turbo Blazer and an N/A blazer. The Crossover should also have a sister truck in GMC known as the GMC Typhoon.
The Second vehicle would be the Chevrolet Colorado. For a short period of time there was a Colorado Xtreme pickup as well but it sported a 5.3L V8 with decent power for its day. With the Colorado already being a RWD pickup truck, The 3.6L Twin Turbo V6 would fit under the hood the normal way and could easily be a sister truck with a reborn GMC Syclone. Give them AWD an a hybrid version of the 10L90 transmission with an added 50hp/50lb-ft of torque. Like I mentioned above with the Blazer, GM should have GMPP stage kits available for this set up to as the truck should focused as a street truck, with the 3.0L Colorado Twin Turbo RST sitting below this as well as a GMC Canyon GT (hearkening back to the Yukon GT name). With these vehicles, Chevy also NEEDS to bring back that red outlined bowtie that stood for Chevy Performance. Although the Camaro will truly be missed, If the world is going to be moving to SUVs and crossovers, this wouldn’t be a bad way to do it.
