The 2021 Buick Envision ushers in an all-new second generation for the nameplate, bringing with it new trims, new styling, more tech features, a new engine, and a new underlying platform. Now, GM Authority has learned from sources familiar with GM’s go-to-market strategy that order banks for the all-new 2021 Buick Envision will open Thursday, August 13th, 2020, for all U.S. Buick dealers.
The model is expected to begin arriving at dealers at the outset of the 2021 calendar year, if not slightly before, barring any upcoming delays from the COVID-19 pandemic.
So far, pricing information has not yet been announced. However, sources have told us to expect a starting price around $34,000. To note, the current 2020 Buick Envision starts at $34,695, including destination.
Previously, GM Authority exclusively reported information regarding the 2021 Buick Envision suspension configuration and details on the crossover’s optional twin-clutch AWD system.
We’ve also covered the 2021 Buick Envision trim level cadence, which will incorporate four trims total, starting with the base-level Envision, and followed by the Preferred, the Essence, and the Avenir, with the Avenir trim offered as the range-topper of the group. The latest 2021 model year will be the first instance in which the Buick Envision will be offered in an Avenir trim.
Each trim comes standard with FWD, while the Preferred, Essence, and Avenir trims also offer AWD as an available option.
According to GM Authority sources, the initial ordering and launch will focus primarily on the top three trim levels.
As a reminder, the 2021 Buick Envision rides on the GM E2 platform, with production taking place at the Jinqiao plant in Shanghai China, both for the Chinese domestic market, and for export to North America. Providing motivation is the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine, which produces 230 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

This is why we shouldn’t be worry that Cadillac’s Lyriq won’t arrive until 2022 especially as they’re just getting started to take orders of the 2021 Buick Envision because Cadillac needs to get it right, one can imagine what would happen if they make the Lyriq available in 6 months and experience technical issues.
You have to immediately hijack this Buick story and post something about Cadillac?
The new styling is pretty slick. too bad it still comes from Chinah.
I agree with Paul. Too bad it is built in China. Love my Enclave, but will not buy Chinese built GM products. sorry…
Made in China is a deal breaker. I am sure assembly and quality will be fine, it is just the principle of the matter.
It will also be a major issue for Buick’s core customer base. GM Is greatly underestimating the patriotism of the core Buick buyer. My parents would have no issue buying a Buick. However, you tell them it is made in China and they would absolutely NOT buy it…they wouldn’t even test drive it.
Being from “Buicktown” aka Flint I have a hard time with GM period. Love my Audi TT red Roadster.

Do they own an I Phone?
They don’t own a $35,000.00 I Phone!
Better looking than the XT4, but this Chinese takeout is not what it used to be.
Buick looks fine but that is why I bought Cadillac xt4 because buick is made in China.i want a car made in United states
Then you most likely will have to buy a “foreign” car-
Have production for the North American market moved to the US then I’ll consider it.
I need a new suv. The envision would be great. I just can’t buy a Chinese assembled car….
The Enclave should eventually look like this. I hope.
Hate to see it made in China. Also would much rather prefer a 6cyl option like my Lacrosse and Regal gs
Kudos to GM on this design which makes it one of the most attractive CUVs on the market. Interested to learn the interior and driving dynamics. Would definitely prefer made in USA, but we live in a world economy. Buicks are very popular in China, not as much here I guess. Nice job on the Avenir trim, wish my TourX had offered that. I hope for their sake that they use better seat and dash materials, those were a bit lacking in TourX for the “near-luxury” price point. Also lamenting domestic loss of LaCrosse, a truly great-looking sedan. All that said, will be looking at this Envision for the wife. Sharp ride.
Build it in the U.S.A.
We looked at the Tour X before settling on a 2019 Outback. The Buick beats Subaru hands down on styling but the Outback was the best choice for my wife and me.
The Outback is assembled in Indiana a real plus in my view. I would still have bought one if it came from Japan but no way would I have one if it had been built in China.
I suspect that many buyers will reject the Envision because of it’s Chinese connection.
Do you have any idea when Buick will unveil the new model to the automotive press and, in turn, to the public? I will be great when Buick goes live with a configurator.
I’ve always liked the envision, just build it in the us or Canada and they would sell.
For all of you commenting you would love to see it made in the states. It is made in China so that the states can afford it. Please do an audit of your clothes, kitchen products, electronics and household items and let me know how long it takes you to see made in China. Lol
This interior is about the best to come out of Detroit’s Design Studio in some time . The exterior is a big improvement from last years model . The front looks a bit like a Volvo XC-90 , not a bad thing IMO . I know it;s made in Communist Chjna but so is my laptop and my mouse and most everything I own unless I can buy that item that’s made here . If I do order one I’ll have the Envision badge removed and replace it with a Buick badge . I don’t want to advertise it’s a China car but I;d be willing to bet the general public wouldn’t know the difference . Having said all that I thought GM told journalists back 0 2017 tha if the sold 30,000+ they would consider assembling the car in one of the factories they were planning on closing ?!? .
