With timeless styling, great off-road capability, a removable/convertible roof and great aftermarket support, it’s easy to see why so many people love the K5 Blazer. Indeed, this iconic Chevrolet off-roader is near-perfect – but that doesn’t stop owners from looking for ways to improve on the package.
The previous owner of this 1987 Chevrolet K5 Blazer, which is currently for sale at Grand Rapids, Michigan-based dealership Garage Kept Motors, decided they wanted to drop a more robust powerplant under the hood of the SUV at some point. They acquired a Vortec 5300 V8 and 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission (likely lifted out of an old GM full-size truck or SUV) and dropped it into the Blazer, instantly modernizing its powertrain and giving it more power and perhaps some additional reliability as well.
Garage Kept Motors also promises this K5 Blazer has a straight and rust-free body after spending the majority of its life in California. It may be located in Michigan now, but one look at this Blazer and it’s clear it has never seen a Midwest winter. The interior is just as well kept, too. The grey upholstery is in good shape and has no rips or tears and the original radio and gauges are intact and working. There’s no modern-day audio deck/speaker system or modernized A/C as we see in so many other classic vehicles these days, but we’re just fine with this K5 Blazer being all original.
While the K5 Blazer is quickly rising in popularity and thus also in price, Garage Kept Motors is asking a fairly approachable $24,900 for this SUV. Check out the listing here for some more information and photos.

Love it! ♥️♥️
Now that’s what the new Blazer should be styled after. Get rid of that minivan that carries a name it doesn’t deserve.
thank you, the new crossover blazer is one of the absolute worst automobiles i’ve ever seen in a long time, i hated that one last year.
