This 1958 Chevrolet Impala has all the right stuff to turn heads and keep its passengers riding in comfort. Designed as a Pro Tourer, it combines old-school style with new-school tech, and the result is one enticing two-door.
Outside, the ’58 Chevrolet Impala looks stunning in glossy Classic White paint, with the curvaceous chrome and stainless trim shining bright front to back. Side styling lines draw the eye towards the pronounced rear tail fins, while polished five-spoke wheels sit neatly under the fenders. The roofline falls gracefully into an extended trunk line, positioning the greenhouse centrally in the profile. A set of aluminum exhaust pipes make the good noises.
The cabin space is decked out in leather upholstery with a taupe color scheme. Meanwhile, the dash, floors, and central tunnel offset the light coloring with a splash of red. All of the interior lights work, including lighting for the mirrors and sun visors, while Vintage Air keeps it at just the right temperature. A three-spoke LaCarra steering wheel sits ahead of a set of Autometer analog gauges, also draped in leather.
Making this Chevrolet Impala move is a 305 V8 plucked from the engine bay of a late ’80s Chevrolet Camaro. The ‘eight feeds a 700R4 Overdrive transmission and open 3.55 rear end to drive the rear wheels, while ceramic-coated headers and MagnaFlow mufflers evacuate the spent gasses. Mounted under the hood, the V8 looks nice thanks to plenty of polished metal bits.
To enhance the driving experience, this 1958 Chevrolet Impala was equipped with power disc brakes in front, which are matched to drum brakes in the rear. A quick-ratio power steering setup finishes it off.
Now, this slick 1958 Pro touring Chevrolet Impala is listed for sale by Duffy’s Classic Cars, priced at $53,950.

a 305..are you kidding me?
A 348 would make it more interesting….
Yeah, to each is own I guess. But I too was let down when I got to the motor. Looks good, but still, that’s all you got? With the easy availability of high power crate engines now a days, and they used a junk yard motor. To each his own.
That is not pro touring by any standard. Don’t report on things you don’t know about.
Nice but not a 305.
Should be more like 25K.
As long as the owner is happy. Sure would have been nice to pop the hood on a big block though. Any BB would do but a big old 572 would be sweet tucked down in there. Definitely would help fill the voids under the hood. Sure enjoy seeing one that nice that’s for sure! Awesome!
I’ve always been a Chevy fan as my dad was a dealer. I grew up with them. Corvette was always my favorite even though my Dad didn’t care for them. I’ve always thought the ’58 Impala was the most beautiful car Chevrolet ever built and I would certainly own this one but probably not at that price. It’s a beautiful build and I’d be proud to show this beauty. I’m sure it will sell even with the older technology engine.
This vehicle was put together to reflect the period in time that it represents not an over powered muscle car . Being from Detroit I had the pleasure of owning a 58 black convertible and enjoyed cruising Woodward avenue for pleasure and not drag racing .
Almost 60 G’s?? Are you crazy? Good bye to owning a fun ride to summer car shows!
Looks good, but a 305 isn’t very impressive unless it’s had some work. In 58 the Impala could be equiped with a 348. My first car was a 58 Bel Air with a 283. Needless to say it wasn’t fast. 58 Chevys were solid and heavy.
80’s 305?
3:55 open?
50,000+?
That just doesn’t add up
I see flags on the side that impala that are really close to the vette flags. So why can’t you make a SUV or sedan with similar flags of the current vette flags. Call it a Chevrolet whatever
I had ’57, “58, ’59, ’60, ’61 Chevys back in the day. The 348 was the first “big block”, which grew into the 454. If you bored and stroked the 409, you could take the 409 to 504 cu. in. I saw one in a 32 Ford at the March meets. Sweet.
Not happy with the 305..with that motor price should be 24 or 25k. Sorry.
63 grand and it’s not original? Laughable. Six popper/powerglide will outlast a 305/700r4 any day.
The motor is way too weak, it lacks rear disc brakes and performance front brakes. There is no mention of how the chassis has been reinforced, fuel system updated, cooling system, electrical, etc. If it uses any parts from the 1958 suspension it is hardly safe. This car is far from pro touring.
I was born in 58, and an avid Chevy fan, but I can only dream of having a 58 imp. Price is good, some one will be the proud owner soon.
People are so critical. I am sure all the negative reports from people I am sure they are all driving pro mods. Beautiful car I had a lot of chevys 69 vet. 62 Biscayne 63ss 4 speed 340hp. 65ss convertible. I agree price is note worthy. But compared to today’s prices 7200$ for a ford 150 loaded is also crazy. Nice job on car Nothing wrong with 305 engine. It’s not made as a drag car. Enjoy driving. Got the money? sure their is room to bargain. Enjoy!!
My warmed over 305 runs great, plenty of umph, in a 3100 lb. car. That said a 350, of course has more potential.
I was never a fan of the ‘58 Chevy, most notably the scooped-out wings. But I admit this white two-door Hardtop looks enticing. I recall the Impala was available with a 454 engine. Thirsty bugger, however it did move out. I’m surprised it doesn’t have power windows. This is sort of a hit and miss offering with some good features as well as some negative ones.
Was never available with a 454, 348 maximum
I was recalling a friend of mine bought a ‘58 with a 454. Apparently it replaced the original engine. I was impressed at the time. Sounded great with the “Hollywood” mufflers.
Still amazes me that the differences between 1957, 1958, and 1959 Chevys and all other GM lines was incredible. Now they make same style of each model for years with less interior and exterior colors choices. Actually seems like every car company redesigned a new model every year for a long time. Maybe this ’58 was restored years ago and that’s the reason for old Camaro engine?
The 58′ Chevy was the beginning of the end for Cadillac, what I mean is up to 1957′ Caddy was totally different from Chevy then the 58′ Chevy became a rebodied 57/8′ Cadillac without Caddy’s running gear. Then over the years the cheapness became more apparent like dropping the 4-speed Hydromatic for a Cletusmatic 3-speed THM and other things.
Late in the 60’s it took Ford and Chrysler awhile before the cheapness kicked in like Lincoln became T-Bird/Mercury specials and Imperial became a New Yorker with options.
I know that was off topic a bit but American luxury need to be separated from the rest of the line-up.
The 58 Impala also came with a 348 3X2 engine. It also had the first X brace frame and 1st year for duel headlights. Many first in 58 for Chevy
