Rare, Brand-New 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition Finds A Buyer

Back in 2010, Chevy decided to launch a new special edition C6-gen Corvette Z06, offering it up as a nod to the 50th anniversary of the nameplate’s first competition run at the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans. Dubbed the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition, only a few hundred units were produced, each of which is considered rare and very desirable. As it just so happens, one clever dealership owner managed to squirrel away this particular example, which recently sold to a buyer in Georgia for $95,000.

For those who may be unaware, the Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition was equipped with the Z07 Ultimate Performance Package, which helped to up the ante on the standard Z06 to performance levels approaching those of the circuit-smashing Corvette ZR1. Highlights for this package included magnetic suspension, better cooling, ceramic brakes, and wide, sticky Michelin tires.

True to the name, the Z06 Carbon Limited Edition also came equipped with composite treatment for the  rocker extensions, front splitter, hood, roof, rear spoiler, and engine cover. Exterior color options were limited to Supersonic Blue and Inferno Orange, with this particular example draped in the latter.

Although Chevy originally announced a production run limited to 500 units, just 252 units ended up rolling off the line, making the 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition rather rare. This particular example, number 15, was scooped up by GM dealership owner Donald Hilligoss, then parked in storage, with the intention of selling it later after it had appreciated.

Unfortunately, Hilligoss lost his life in a motorcycle accident in 2017. His son eventually took over ownership of the dealer, and decided to put the 2011 Corvette Carbon Limited Edition up for sale.

With a mere seven miles on the odometer, this rare C6 is essentially brand-new, with the exception of whatever issues may have crept up after sitting unused for a decade.

If you were the lucky new owner, would you drive this 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition, or keep it stored to sell later? Let us know by voting in the poll, and make sure to subscribe to GM Authority for more Chevrolet Corvette news, Chevrolet news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.

  • You're absolutely right. It always amazes me when the spoiled ass kids just sell anything of value as fast as possible.

BUT, I am proud to say what little my Mom & Dad left me I still have in my possession.

  • That is pretty much what that car stickered for in 2011. Kid should have kept it a couple more decades. He probably needed hooker and cocaine money...

A rare front engined, 6 speed, Z06 Vette will be worth a fairly decent amount in the distant future.

  • Drive only on special occasions and store only in a secure location w/ insurance. That's how i would do it...

  • Well, not sure how a poll about drive it or store it and hope for appreciating numbers turned into a liberal lecture about 1%’s and sharing the wealth. When did success and wealth become such a horrible thing. If you don’t like our country or you just can handle the fact that in America we are all given the opportunity to Be successful. Why do you think so many people around the world came here. For a better life!!!

Go make your millions and buy your own sweet rare vette. If you still feel the way you do now by all means you can give it to some homeless guy under the bridge or some young sad looking Antifa thug.

Have a blessed Day. This Science teacher would keep driving my convertible 75 stingray with 525 horses and park that one in a bubble and admire the intrinsic value as I pass it on to my family someday.

  • This guy had access to plenty of toys,,,,he owned a dealership...he saw opertunity for an investment and did well for his kids..I would drive it a once in a while like I do my 17 z06..

  • Crap!!! He never ever even drove the thing and past away, my condolences.. That sucks😞 That being said, if I bought it? I would street race the CRAP out of that car.... And think of him every time👍
