Hennessey C8 Corvette Exhaust Unboxing And Installation: Video

Hennessey Performance Engineering is still fairly limited in the modifications it can make to the C8 Corvette due to General Motors‘ encrypted ECU. One custom part that can make a difference on the car even without adjusting anything in the ECU is the exhaust, so the Texas-based tuning company decided to develop a new, lightweight stainless steel exhaust kit for the mid-engine sports car.
Hennessey’s stainless steel exhaust for the C8 Corvette is lighter than the stock unit from GM, has a more defined sound and helps the 6.2L LT2 V8 produce a little bit more power. The exhaust, which is made out of 100% T304 stainless steel, is roughly 10 pounds lighter than the factory exhaust and boosts output by 21 horsepower and 19 pound-feet of torque, pushing the output of the C8 Corvette to just over 500 horsepower. The kit also connects right up to the factory catalytic converters, ensuring it remains emissions-compliant in all 50 states.
C8 Corvette owners who purchase this exhaust from Hennessey will receive the kit in a large white Hennessey branded box and will also get a numbered build certificate signed by John Hennessey, along with some mounting hardware.
The company recently put together a video showing the unboxing process for the exhaust kit and how to install it. Hennessey recommends taking the exhaust to a professional to have it installed, but for those C8 owners who want to wrench on their own car, we advise they check out the video below. The exhaust installation is fairly straightforward, but it does require removing the rear bumper and some other parts, so it will definitely take some time to get everything properly bolted in.
